How To Get Fake Bangs With The Help Of A Hair Donut
Backstage at Cynthia Rowley, I spotted a new ‘do that some of you ladies out there (and certain people around here) are going to love. The curled bang look created by hairstylist Bok-Hee is just as retro as Simcha’s usual pompadour, but, as Bok-Hee told me, it has “a little modern twist.” To create the bang, Bok-Hee combed a section of hair forward and rolled it over a hair donut she had cut to fit the model’s forehead, pinning it into place. The rest of the hair was slicked back into a pony, and that’s it! This could also be a pretty slick way to try bangs before you commit to cutting your hair. Just pair with this purple MAC shadow they blended together to give the look a modern edge.

I always assumed a hair doughnut was when the staff at Dunkin’ Donuts accidentally dropped your treat on the floor before they made it to the register.

Foam hair donuts, also known as rats, have been used for ages. Many eons ago, it was common to save your hair from your hair brush and use that instead of foam. Just ebay “hair keeper” and you’ll see some interesting examples.
Anyone needing to recreate a vintage ‘do or faux bangs need only to go to your local beauty supply store and pick up a rat, they come in donuts and straight cylinders.
