Eww, “Mad Men,” Eww
“Mad Men” has been a lil’ up and down for me this season, with some serious highs—the “everyone has a talent” episode!—and lows—slowwwwww moving storylines, for one. On last night’s episode, something totally climactic happened, but it gave me a case of the pukes. Yes, “I wanna take you in that bedroom, lock the door, take your clothes off with my teeth, throw you on the bed, and give you a go-around like you’ve never had,” is a hot pick-up line—but uttered by Duck?! VOMS.

Somehow, I don’t think we are supposed to find that at all appealing, with the lead up over the last couple of episodes, it feels very manipulative. Duck is totally up to nothing good and Peggy is just so naive that she believes him. I am with you on the dry-heaves from watching that scene. Hot line, sure, but not from those lips.

First of all, how can you f**k a dude named Duck? Yuck.
Second, though I’m not a Pete fan, if that’s our choice, bring back Pete!

Well, if you ever wanted to know what Mackenzie Phillips and her dad looked like together, that’s a pretty good start.

The whole show moves too slow. At first I didnt get the whole madison avenue thing, and I kept waiting for them to go MAD! And for Draper to start killing everyone. Now that would be a show worthy of the title. I know im a dunce :-p

Yes, that moment did crossed over into a suspension-of-belief one this season, I do agree. 60s catch-phrase: F**k a Duck, but I don’t think they meant that. And, the slooooow-moving part is meant to set the moooood, but, it ain’t moody or broody, just plain slooooow.
Plus, it doesn’t help when your jolted back into your living room when you spot little things like Don stirring the hot cocoa with a new wooden spoon from Crate & Barrel. And, they’re slipping on some of the catch phrases (which I can’t remember at the moment) that hadn’t been coined ‘til the 90s. Btw, what’s with the hit-and-run “try-out” storylines, ie, Alzheimer dad, gay-colleague outage, and… and… :(

You know, I was kind of hoping for Peggy to be a real modern girl, having sex because she wanted to, doing great on her own, and not being apologetic about it, but she’s too submissive. What she really needs is to don a leather teddy and a whip, tie up Don Draper and make him give her a raise!
