Eliot Spitzer’s Escort Tells Other Women To “Get Real”

The gloves are off! Ashley Dupre, the high-priced escort who brought down former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, lashed out at other women in a blog post.

The 24-year-old said women—NYC ladies, especially—are hypocrites who judge her for having been a call girl, but they still date rich men and bleed their boyfriends dry! Dupre’s choicest insults, after the jump…

“Get real and get over yourself…Let me say this—most girls, to varying degrees, of course, want to be pampered and have nice shoes, designer handbags and gorgeous clothes.

I know many women who target guys with money and use them to get these things. They toy with them, flirt, go on dates, have sex and then drop hints about that new dress…or being short on rent money—and the guys deliver it.

I see this all over New York City. Some women aren’t as vindictive, but still dive into relationships with wealthy guys who they don’t love or even find attractive, but they stay in it because they have a nice home, a car and spending money.

They would rather stay in an unfulfilling or loveless relationship than lose that security.”

Well, Ashley Dupre, “most girls” don’t want to be “pampered.” Most of us, I think, like a few gifts here or there but want the self-esteem that comes from taking care of ourselves.

Still, I don’t disagree with her at all about the judgment and hypocrisy “bad girls” like her experience for being sex workers. She gets called a “slut” for sleeping with men for money, yet some women do use sex and affection to manipulate men to get money or gifts out of them, too.  The “good girls” and “bad girls” categories are so filled with holes that it’s amazing we still think that way anymore.

Furthermore, society is harder on women than men when it comes to sexual indiscretions like Dupre’s. “Client Number Nine” Eliot Spitzer paid a price for cheating on his wife and being a hypocritical politician (debating about whether or not his punishments were fair is another post entirely). But what about all the men who manipulate women with their money, too? Are they really any better? [NY Post]

Of course, it looks like there’s a reason the call girl decided to post this little rant today, as opposed to last week or a year ago. Remember how she wanted to be a singer? Looks like she’s drumming up press for her new single, “Inside Out.” And, oh goody, it’s a ballad that kind of reminds me of Vanessa Williams’ “Save the Best for Last.” Take a listen below. Men that do it are not any better.  I look at it as a perceived frequency of men doing this.  Kind of like female “johns” aren’t all that common.  I don’t know numbers of men gold-diggers or users compared to women, but it seems like it would be substantially lower.

Not because is is “above” men, but because it is a little more difficult for a man to find a “sugar momma” or what have you.  We are pretty common and readily available.

Just my perception.

I agree with Ashley (to an extent).  I don’t think it’s *most* women, but I do believe there is a good number of women who would rather pursue financial security than pursue love.  It’s the society that we are born into. Most of the men who support the “golddiggers” are completely aware of the situation, and obviously they don’t care.  Some men are shallow enough to just want that arm candy / trophy wife.  I doubt any of these men really think that its true love.  And if they do, then they are mistaking infatuation for love.  Love isn’t one-sided.

All that being said, I think it’s pretty sad for all parties involved.  Real love is so satisfying… much more than say, a really expensive purse or loads of shoes.  Sure, you look awesome in that Chanel dress with that Gucci handbag… but does any of that matter when your old?  When your laying on your deathbed, will your Manolo shoes hold your hand and tell you they love you?

And a side note:  Money is not the root of all evil.  The love of money is.

Good for Ashley for at least calling it what it is, though I doubt it’s really as wide-spread as “most girls”.  I’ve never been to NYC, but I’m inclined to believe that even if sugar-daddy dating is way more common, there are plenty of girls who pull their own weight and don’t depend on men to pay the rent.  Maybe Ashley D’s lifestyle results in knowing more girls who do this because she’s around wealthy men with arm candy girls more than the average person (NYC or otherwise)?

I know girls who live/date like this, though, even if the guy isn’t actually independently wealthy - all they need is a guy with enough money to keep them in whatever it is they want.  Some of them genuinely love the guys they’re with, but the ones I’ve seen who do this definitely never bother dating men who make less than them (if they work at all) or even guys who are *gasp* their career equals if they do work.  Pretty fitting for the author writing this story, no?

She is just trying to justify what she did by pretending to be secure with it. If she really felt there was nothing wrong with it, then she wouldn’t feel compelled to make statements about it.

Next drug dealers are gonna be going around crying how it is unfair that there is a stereotype against them because of their job. Cry me a river.

I understand her outrage.  Who would have thought that the same opportunistic gold diggers who have no moral or ethical problem trading sexual favors in order to live high on the hog would also be crass enough to celebrate the humiliating downfall of a highly successful rival who used to get paid thousands in cash for spending a few measly hours with the same rich and powerful men whose boorish behavior they must endure for YEARS in lonesome loveless marriages?

@pragmatryst: It’s a catch 22 whatever she says. Don’t be a dick.

@CheeeeEEEEse: “Don’t be a dick.”

Heavens no, I wouldn’t dream of being unkind.  Besides, if there’s one thing we KNOW Ashley is good at, it’s handling dicks.

@pragmatryst: Touche on the dick front. However it was a catch 22 and you were negligent to point it out, that’s all I’m saying.

I completely agree with Ashley. Of course not every girl is like that as she mentions and it’s all in different degrees of wanting to be pampered, but our society still teaches women to look for a man to take care of her, in a way. And I don’t think that’s a good thing by the way.
