Dudes: Please Stop Waxing Your Chests!
When did guys start waxing their chests? All I have to say about that is: It’s got to stop. If we wanted you to look like us, we’d date us. We want guys to look like guys, no matter how hirsute that makes you. That’s why we love you. Because you are what we are not. True story: I think the first time I saw some guy’s chest hair waxed into a distinct shape was about seven years ago. I was on the set of an adult movie. The guy was Ron Jeremy. And his chest hair had been waxed into the shape of ... a heart. It was both totally horrifying and vaguely endearing.
Now, this manscaping epidemic has gone too far.
In “Why Men Shouldn’t Wax Their Chests,” an aesthetician says I couldn’t be more wrong. Today’s women, she reports, are “repelled by hairy chests nowadays. Chest hair is — I really hate to say it — an unacceptable thing.” A criminal past, maybe. Chest hair unacceptable? I don’t think so, lady.
Some fellows didn’t get the message, though. Mixed martial arts fighter Kimbo Slice has made a habit of shaving his chest hair into a variety of topiary-like configurations. Witness: the one-boobed crescent moon, the fur spear of death, and the hairy crucifixion.
I say, stop the madness. Let your weeds grow wild. Put an end to the manscaping insanity.

@Susannah: Ew, I love porn, but can’t watch some scenes because of the dudes. Ron Jeremy included, among others.

Ok not to harp: But so far we’ve had two articles in the past few weeks about how completely disgusting men with body hair are and how they should be ashamed to even leave the house…and now this. I’m getting mixed signals.

Yeah I agree @Avalari, one week someone says “you should be ashamed” the next week you telling us that it’s okay for men to be hairy. Well guess what, I’m tired of women making men into hairless 12 year-old boys. I want a man, hair or not, so long as he’s not shaving it or waxing it off. I’m not going to wax and do landscaping on my self because I personally think that it’s a stupid thing to do, mother nature put it there to stop chaffing and keep things out of our vagina’s so don’t expect me to defend shaming a man into waxing. I can safely say that if you think that forcing men into being ashamed and waxing their bodies is okay your a small minded bitch who’s no better than the media who tells women we need to be a size 0.

To each their own. Some women like body hair, some do not. Some men like it, some do not. Let people do with their body hair as they wish. Doesn’t make them right or wrong or a “small minded bitch”.

HAHAHA Thats funny Goldfinch86. I like it when woman are shaved and/or hairy. It really does not matter to me as long as they are attractive. I think the same should go for us men. We should not get criticized for not wanting to look like a woman. What happened to woman wanting a “man”? If woman wanted a hairless pretty person, why not be lesbian? Im not a really hairy guy, but I think a man should be a man.

Sadie while I might have jumped the gun, I still think it
s a little small minded based on the fact that many women hands down will not date a guy who does not shave and pressure men into doing it. This topic is a little old and as far as I can tell people will always do what they want, thats good. But you can’t force others to be like you or live up to your so called “standards of beauty”.

I am not suggesting forcing anyone to do anything. There are men who don’t like being hairy and manscape/wax/shave because they want to. There are women who appreciate the manscaping. What’s wrong with these people getting together?

Some girls only go for blondes. Some go for ones with nice butts. Some fall for long hair and tattoos. Some go for smooth chests. Some go for hairy chests. Personal preference is just that, PERSONAL.

@Sadie & Queen Frostine: well stated.
The more manscaping, the better I say. But I love a man with long flowing locks. :shurgs: Go figure.

Being the super-hippy, vegetarian ya-ya sister that I am, I’m not in favor of shaving anything, for either gender (yeah, I’m gross, I know). But the idea of men shaving away their body hair *really* weirds me out. A lot of the gals that I know seriously hate men with hair, and think waxed/shaved mean are swoon-worthy. But I agree with Goldfinch and abcd, if I wanted someone with less or no bodily hair, I’d date women, or a Jonas brother.

I love a bare chest but the guys I go for aren’t likely to be confused with the prepubescent set so its not an issue for me in that regard. I do like hair long enough to run fingers through and play with but not a fan of facial hair, too scruffy.

Dated a guy who was very hairy. Hated the trimmed stubble. I’d rather have the soft hair than the pokey stubble. And for me personally, I go through periods of furry and not furry down below. But I tell you what, no man on this earth is gonna tell me what I should do there. If he doesn’t like it, he is certainly welcome to move along.

@frisked, I TOTALLY agree. Shaving/waxing is VERY feminine to me (whether it should be or not). It is soooo girly. The idea of a man staring in the mirror shaving his chest makes me cringe. To me (just my personal opinion), the idea of shaving one’s chest wouldn’t even cross the mind of the kind of man I’m looking for.

My man waxed and shaved his back and chest before he ever met me. He prefers it. He shaves his legs and “down theres” too. He has never once shamed me for my “winter leg hair” or the bush getting a bit fluffy. I don’t love him because “he looks like a man”, I love him for who he is. If he was a tall blonde woman I’d love him just as much, and wouldn’t care HOW she did/didn’t shave/wax either.

The irony of reading this while the featured article in the upper left there is “Quick Pic: Naked Men Make Nice Accessories” featuring a guy with no hair below his neck is pretty intense.
I think I need a break to recover from it.

What I hate is that in-between stage. Dated a gorgeous guy who had the unfortunate nickname of ‘wolf man’ because of what went on under his shirt. He got a wax. Within a couple days, he had a round-the-clock shadow, if you get my drift.
Have you ever had sex with 100 grain sandpaper? It’s kinda like that. And these rug burns, my friends, were not cute.
