I own the “Become Your Own Matchmaker” thanks Frisky.

Why are the husbands always dumb?

It’s because the women are the ones sitting around watching the commercials and so are the target demographic while we Men are out changing the world. The Men are mocked in ads to make the women feel better. Then they steal our Child Support Fluid and take our money.

_jsw_, get over yourself.  For one thing: Men created the dynamic that kept women at home for so long.  For another: There are lots of women out there that don’t like this mindset and think that it perpetuates a stereotype of women as demanding, snarky, and patronizing.

I hate that girl in the lawn-care ad.  You told him to kill the weeds!  He tried!  You want to do it yourself next time?

And I’m about to take out a contract on the Glade woman.  Nobody over the age of 12 should be that perky.  She’s like the middle-school cheerleader who refuses to grow up.  I think she’s been breathing air-freshener for too long and it’s caused brain damage.

@BlueVibe: I was actually spoofing someone (whose member name initials were PiR) who was banned from the site; he espoused views such as the above.

@BlueVibe: umm, I’m guessing you didn’t catch it, but _jsw_ was NOT serious.

(hence the “</PiR, may he rest in peace (or pieces, your call)>” bit).

The point of advertisement is to target those who are witty and clever. Most humorous ads thrive on satire to make them memorable because the viewer is enjoying watching the ad, or they are offended by the ad.

Personally, although the ad was stereotypical, I found it hilarious. That doesn’t mean I believe and agree with everything the ad states. It just means I’m not pressed on worrying that the ad is going to change society drastically. Hell, it may actually even the playing field a bit. There’s plenty of sexism versus females, why not the occasional against males? Go all or go none.

If we didn’t have all these ridiculous, sexist commercials, we wouldn’t have all the fun Sarah Haskins satire. She’s hilarious! (Of course, I’m sure she would have come up with something equally hilarious without those ridiculous stereotypes.)
