Do Heels And Boyfriend Jeans Ever Look Fantastic?
It was “Grapes of Wrath” meets “Simply Ballroom” at Ralph Lauren, where Depression-era coveralls and distressed boyfriend jeans were paired with shiny, strappy heels. (Although the closing act—a metallic overalls-inspired dress—took the theme waaaay too far.) Not sure how we feel about the whole dainty shoes and baggy jeans look—the proportions always end up looking weird in real life, no? Then again, we’re totally inspired by the pageboy caps and blazers and dressing in drag in general. But screw waiting for next spring. We’re pretty sure we can put something similar together at the local thrift store.

I’m not a big fan of the heels and baggy jeans look, it just looks like you’re trying to make casual a little more classy with a pair of heels and generally it fails miserably. I’ve seen a few irl girls pull it off quite well though.

If I ever have to wear a suit to work, I am TOTALLY going for the look on the right. Oh my God. Love. I’ll even carry a pocket watch.
I, for one, am in favor of juxtaposing genres in my outfits. I’ve worn heels with men’s cargo pants and old leather hiking boots with skirts and tights. I like how it looks.

I think heels kind of defeat the point of boyfriend jeans or the newsboy look - the outfit is made as feminine as possible by being in women’s sizes, albeit baggy. Heels can make the wearer look confused, unless they’re “the right kind of heels”. Which depends. So maybe.

Why is this look slightly turning me on?
