David Letterman Versus The Palins: Round ...Three?
It’s not David Letterman who makes women look bad, it’s Sarah Palin! The Alaska governor continued to cry us a river in an interview with Matt Lauer on “The Today Show,” saying that Letterman should apologize to women everywhere. She’s still claiming the jokes he made were about her 14-year-old daughter even though the comedian explained they were made about her 18-year-old who did, in fact, get knocked up. Anna at Jezebel has a great post on why she hasn’t been able to muster up much sympathy for the Palins, despite the obvious sexism in his remarks. Frankly, We think Sarah is the one who should be apologizing because she issued a statement saying she wouldn’t go on David Letterman’s show because it would boost his ratings and she didn’t trust him around her youngest daughter, Willow. Wow, WTF is that supposed to mean? What do you think about all this?

I’d prefer if Sarah Palin made more of a fuss about funding research for cancers that affect women, family-friendly workplaces, reproductive rights, and media representations of violence against women.
Ah, I can dream can’t I?

Gawd. I love the caption below Palin “Who is the voice of the GOP?” Not her! Keep talking, Sarah. That old pipeline project she’s touting flows with the same backwoods headline grabbing/spinning BS—dangerous. There is nothing leadership-like or politically sound about her, just catty. I agree with Jessica about better choices for handling things. That said, I’m not on Letterman’s side either—Hands.Off.The.Kids. Anyone’s.Kids. Good thing he’s got himself a son, huh, doubt he would have said the same thing if he had a daughter.

I can’t wait for Letterman’s response to the insinuation that he would be doing something unsavory with her daughter if she came on the show.
Now she is just as bad as everyone is claiming Letterman to be. She just used her child as a vehicle to disparage Letterman on national tv. Keep my family out of it, but I’ll use them to get back at you - right?

@Riley, I *can* wait for his response, but, am totally agreed with you on the second half of your comment—nothing is beneath her. I get the feeling she thinks we’re swallowing this crap, too. Wrong.

Palin should at least learn the phrase “culture of rape” if she’s going to accuse Letterman of making inappropriate remarks. The jokes were pretty lame, but they weren’t as offensive as she’s making them seem.

David Letterman has gotten himself into hot water. David Letterman, late night talk show host, made an off color joke about Sarah Palin, or more specifically her daughter. The remark wasn’t taken lightly, and it certainly was inappropriate to say the least, but a lot of people are taking offense to it and would borrow money to see him off the air. There’s even an online petition at firedavidletterman.com and a plan for a protest outside of NBC studios. Conservatives won’t stop talking about the incident, and have been admonishing an anti-Palin bias instead of offering real solutions to actual problems. A lot of people would give a fast cash loan to make this David Letterman thing go away.
