Dancing With The Stars Goes Gay: Lance Should Dance With A Man!

Lance Bass has certainly danced with boys before. Granted those cute N’Sync coordinated moves didn’t require the gents to partner up, but let’s face it, they were still pretty gay.  And now that Lance has signed on to show off his skills on Dancing With The Stars, the question is: Will this gay guy be given a male or female partner?  Judge Cheryl Burke says, “America isn’t ready for two men dancing.” Really? Did she see Academy Award-winning Brokeback Mountain? Those hunks performed a very impressive horizontal tango. We took a Frisky staff poll and discovered that all of us ladies would appreciate two men with hot bodies, dancing around in tight-fitting clothing, grabbing each other, sweatin’...um, we have to stop thinking about this before the drool fries our hard-drive. Suffice it to say, two dudes dancing together sounds like two-times the hotness! And perhaps finally even a reason for us to watch the darn show in the first place. [TV Guide]

YES!!! Why not. I love Dancing with Stars and if, in the real world, Lance and the love of his life should ever want to dance together they would - so why not here and now on this season.

I’m all for it!

This will be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think he should dance with a male partner. This is not about real life, where he should dance with whomever he wants to. This IS about ballroom dancing. Competitive ballroom dancing. In which the contrast of the sexes is an important—really an essential—component. Men and women move differently. Women have flexibility that men generally don’t. Two men ballroom dancing simply do not make the same aesthetic statement, and that’s what competitive ballroom dancing is all about. The judges wouldn’t know what to do with a male/male pair. And really? To say that Lance should dance with a man because he’s gay is like saying that if he were playing mixed doubles, he should have a male partner.

@LadyAngst Oh I agree with you logically. But I still think it would be fun to watch on the show!

@Amelia. Oh, it would be hot, for sure, but fair to Lance and his dance partner? Not really.

I find men dancing with women to be a little, well, sickening.  To me it’s very unnatural.  I just don’t think that men and women should be relating that way.  Naturally I’m gay.  That said, I have had to endure seeing lots of mixed sex couples but I wish they would keep it private.  Yes, I understand that we need to make babies, but what is that, 3 maybe 4 times in a lifetime?  Otherwise avoid mixing the sexes, please!

A lot of gay and lesbian people are tired of pretending to be straight for the comfort of others, and I hope that Lance Bass has the courage to be himself and dance with a man.  If you’re a fan of competitive ballroom dancing, get used to it.  How much longer do you really think this discrimination against same-sex couples is going to last?  Ten more years at most.  Sorry to break to news to you, but dancing is about PASSION, and that knows no gender bounds.

@TomInNY Very well said. I think what a show like Dancing With The Stars is going to have to do though is start choreographing with more than just straightness in mind. I’ll definitely be interested in seeing whether this happens!

I hope Lance does pair up with a man. To the comments above about the “appropriate” way to ballroom dance, this show isn’t exactly about the classic form with the best contenders. Beyond that, those are the kinds of sentiments that society uses to put down gay marriage, women’s roles, etc. In the real world, men dance with men, women dance with women, and men dance with women. Let’s see that diversity in our entertainment! And, yes, it would be hot to watch and give me a reason to finally really watch the show to!

Plus, ballroom dancing is about seduction and flirting, etc…all of those things that happen in real life brought to life through life through dance. Gay people have this happen too - would be very interesting to see
