Crave: ACT Permanent Vegan Hair Color
Vegans want to look good, but the beauty industry has a habit of ignoring their desire for completely animal-free products. At least until now. Advanced Cosmetic Technologies (ACT) has developed the beauty industry’s first entirely plant-based permanent hair color. The hair color is formulated with very pure, natural plant dyes that enhances existing color, covers gray, and adds highlights without any harmful, synthetic chemicals or peroxide. And, you won’t feel the least bit guilty for using this product because the packaging and insert materials are made from Forest Stewardship Council certified paper and 80 percent post-consumer waste and the packages are printed with soy-based inks using wind-generated energy. If only beauty was always this natural. [$29.99, Advanced Cosmetic Technologies]

I wish the website showed photos of actual people with that hair color instead of just the tiny swatches.

Or you could just use hennas from Lush. They small awful and can be tricky to use, but they’re good for your hair and makes it lovely and shiny!

This sounds great! It coats, not strips, the hair and it has so many shades/colors. I’ve tried Bigen from Japan (it’s activated by water) and is also permanent, great shine/texture, but, alas, only comes in really dark shades. Either one, I’d have help with it ‘cause it stains everything it touches, scalp/skin, etc, besides the obvs clothing and hands that are covered.

Or you could just go to Aveda. I’ve been going there for years since they are cruelty-free, and also do an amazing job. But its definitely more expensive!
