Cover Up iPhone App Will Disguise Your Embarrassing Bathroom Business
While I totally know that the idea behind this iPhone app is kind of sexist—“Eww, gross, who wants to hear a woman poop?!”—I also want it. I may be 30-years-old, but I still get a lil’ shy when doing a numero dos in a public restroom—or in my own bathroom when the new BF is over. The creators of the Cover Up app—buy it for 99 cents—could have toned down the overtly feminine design (it looks like a makeup compact!), but let’s face it—have you ever met a dude who was poo shy? The app sounds various “embarrassing noise” maskers, like a blow-dryer, shower, and hand-dryer, so no one suspects you’re doing anything but a quick tinkle. The app does not, however, mask any unpleasant odors. [Trendhunter]

Wouldn’t it seem a little… odd… if suddenly hairdryer or shower noises started issuing from a public restroom stall? Not particularly discreet, perhaps.

Haha, this is true, but odd is better than obvious.

Um grow up? Really? You are embarrassed? What do you do when you get your period? Do you just apologize to everyone for being a disgusting woman and live out of a hotel till your “clean”. Jesus people.

@Goldfinch86 That was a rather angry response to a light-hearted post. I am going to go suck on my thumb now while I watch cartoons.

I am extremely poo shy, especially in the at-home-with-new-guy-over situations. this would be perfect for me (if I pooped, that is) but alas I am a Blackberry girl!

@Goldfinch um yeah a period doesnt make a sound you freak.
I am all for being an out of the closet pooper but sometimes a little white noise is nice. Like in my miniscule office that I share with a co-worker. the bathroom is right there and my male drivers are in and out all day dropping off their boxes for the day. If I am having a noisy episode I would rather have them think I am singing while I pee!

That scene had me literally running for the bathroom because a little bit of pee came out I laughed so hard.

Yeah, not surprised. When I lived in Japan practically every toilet had a flush sound button that you could press. Apparently companies started installing it cuz ladies were wasting so much water actually flushing to mask sounds. I thought it might be an isolated thing, but now that I am in Korea I have observed that while less common here, the button is something I frequently both see and hear.
Now iphone users too will be able to enjoy to the PSHSHOOOWHOOOOOSH :D brilliant.

Wouldnt work where i’m employed. These people are so socially inept and lacking in social skills and impulse control one of them would come running in the office yelling about Sally blow-drying her hair in the stall.

hahahaha hilarious. The new-guy situation is hard. I still don’t want to when my BF is over and we’ve been together a long time! At least now I have a house and there are two bathrooms on separate floors - much more discreet than a studio apartment or something. Even if he *knows* why I’m taking a few minutes longer than normal in the bathroom, he doesn’t have to hear it!

I’m a nervous pooer at work myself, but I really shouldn’t be. I think we all just need to reinvest in the classic children’s book “Everyone Poops” and get over ourselves.
