Contact Lenses Gives You Anime Eyes
Boyfriend into Japanese cartoons? Then he’ll love you in these extra-wide contact lenses from GEO Lens. The lenses sounded innocuous enough at first, but after two seconds of moderate internet investigation, I learned that the lenses primary function are to give your eyes the appearance of an anime character. WTF? The lenses are not only tinted unnatural colors, but are heavily tinted beyond the normal rim of your eye, into the the shape of anime-eyes. So all you have to do is pop a pair into your peepers and you are good to go do…well, whatever it is that anime characters do. Now if dating a guy with an anime fetish is questionable, making yourself look like an anime character is unquestionably bizarre. I shouldn’t judge—whatever you do in the privacy of your own home is your business. I will try not to pass judgment if looking like an anime character keeps things steamy in the bedroom. To each her own. I will, however, stare and/or laugh if I see you walking on the street with cartoon eyes.
Oh, FYI, you can only get a prescription from your doc, who might send you to a shrink instead.

Dontcha think you’d have to have the ‘almond’ shaped eyes like the girl in the pic to even attempt to pull this off? I would look like such a freak in something like this. And so would most non-Asians. I actually think it looks kind of cute on the model. Not normal or natural by any means, but cute nonetheless.

yeaah I agree with jojo, how do you pull off anime eyes if you’re not asian? My boyfriend is an anime nerd, but I think he would still be creeped out by this…I hope…

WTF guys, not everything is about looking sexy for your man! I know a slew of girls who would wear these and not just to “keeps things steamy in the bedroom”.
Way to stereotype a whole group of people. Anime fan-girls should be “sent to a shrink”? Are you really going to be that narrow-minded?
I’m really disappointed in this article.

I personally see nothing cute about the model. I think she looks ridiculous and creepy, really. I just don’t understand things like this, I guess…

Ack. I’m fairly positive I’ve dated more than one guy who would get turned on by this. I may fall for the nerdy/geeky/gamer types, but this sounds far too uncomfortable to bear just to get a little.

aren’t these types of contacts not really good for your eyes? I’m fairly positive that the contacts that used to be popular that blacked out your eyes or messed with the whole appearance of your eyes too much were bad, not to mention horribly uncomfortable…I can barely stand my normal contacts most of the time!

@ jojo
Most anime girls are actually based on non-asian women. It’s become really popular to be pale-skinned and wide-eyed in the bigger cities of Japan, to such an extent that some women were having surgery done on their eyes so they wouldn’t be almond-shaped. Or such was the case when I was into anime several years ago.

Some people that cosplay at conventions are so hardcore about every detail that I can see them buying these. Not for everyday, but just to give their con look a little extra pizzazz. I’ve seen weirder crap go down at anime conventions than these contacts…...much weirder…....lol.

I agree with Erin G., the snarkiness in this article was completely unnecessary. To assume that the main audience for these contacts are girls seeking to please their boyfriend and his anime fetish is crazy.
The article would’ve been much better without the catty jags and people with fetishes and the judgment of people’s bedroom practices.

Why are most of the Asian women I see that aren’t over 40 trying to look 12? I don’t mean to be rude, but I really do wonder. Most of them have a frame that looks small enough to be mistaken for a child to begin with, but then they dress and style themselves to encourage the look. I thought it was where I live, but a lot of them on the internet are the same way. Anyway, the eyes are creepy and the girl reminds me of ET. I agree with Jojo that they would probably not work without the almond eyes.

I also agree with Erin G. For whatever reason, many non-anime fans are pretty outspoken about how weird and oddballish anime fans are. If you ever watched anime, you’d know that it’s not all that weird and that not everyone who watches it is into bedroom cosplay.

I know the contacts are supposed to translate as anime from from 2D images to real-life, but here (in US) it truly looks more like scary doll-eyes that click open and closed. With the plasticky skin and wiggy hair in the pic above looks more like a sex-doll than anime, imo.

and I think she looks weird because of the angle of her face and nose and she looks like she’s trying to open her eyes really wide. You should find a normal person wearing these.
