Lucite Is A Contagious Disease That’s Spreading From Heels To Toes
While generally reserved for strippers, Lucite heels might break into the mainstream thanks to their presence on the Prada runway and in Maison Martin Margiela’s collection. But the ones we’ve seen are pricey—to the tune of a grand and more—and some would say they still look cheap.
So, if clear heels aren’t your thing, you can still jump on the see-through bandwagon. There are always clear accessories or clear nails, the latter which was at Prada’s spring 2010 show and seems to be on the forefront of transparent since we certainly haven’t seen them before.
Not to be confused with nude nails or ones painted with clear polish, transparent nails are clear extensions that go atop normal nails. They sort of resemble when we put pieces of Scotch tape on our hands at a very young age. While Miuccia Prada designs clothes that launch trends, we’re not sure who’s going to get behind this one. Maybe the people who are already into Lucite heels? [British Vogue]

Am I the only one here that gets REALLY creeped out when my nails are too long? On my toes anyway… I always feel like they’re scraping on stuff… it makes my teeth hurt. Those would drive me INSANE!!!
No thanks.

Lucite anything is just plain WRONG! I despise the clear anything, takes all the mystery away, that’s why clear shoes and bags are cornerstones in the stripper world, but should not be commonplace out on the streets.

I really don’t like lucite accessories and shoes, mostly because the shoes end up looking cheap and the accessories just seem odd when clear. If the nails had been cut shorter and rounded off, I could have…maybe gotten behind them (then again, much shorter and rounder, you would barely be able to tell you had anything over your nails at all).

Those toenails would be really rad if they had flashing lights underneath them, like those lucite heels you get at novelty shops.

This reminds me of the jelly bean shoes I had when I was like 6. Hahaha. Fashion is crazy.
