Cheers! The Beer Belly Is A Myth
Good news for you. A new study of more than 20,000 beer drinkers has revealed that…(drumroll)...the beer belly is a big old myth. When participants’ hip to waist ratio was measured, researchers noticed that beer doesn’t just make your belly fat. Yes, the people in this study who drank the most beer gained the most weight. But it didn’t settle in any particular area. The beer gut occurred randomly, leading researchers to believe that it’s a genetic factor. Wait, so doing crunches after a night of drinking isn’t going to help!? Crap. [News AU]

Sadly, the same study confirmed that beer _goggles_ are not a myth.

I hear beer-gut myth was born because most ppl who drank beer a lot ended up sitting on the couch watching games and eating fatty foods while drinking beer. A regular beer ranges 100-150 calories which isn’t all that much, considerating a light G2 gatorade is 250 calories. And beer contains mostly healthy things like wheat and barley…having said that it’s definitely not one of the healthier drinks out there. But it’s not as bad as they make it out to be.

Nah, it’s just where men put all their weight. It happens to go to our stomachs. For women it goes to butts and thighs.

Hate to be a party pooper but they left something out. Excessive amounts of beer (or any alcoholic beverage) over time can cause the liver to swell and lead to a buddha like tummy. Eventually this fatty liver can lead to hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver.

Most men i know with beer bellies don’t ddrink. The ones with flat tummies can run through a six pack a nite. And they don’t work out or exercise. Please explain.
