Cheapskate: Target

Target was one of the first mega-retail chains to commit to selling affordable clothing and accessories alongside essentials like detergent, cosmetics, and food. Basically, it’s a one-stop shopping destination for recessionistas who aren’t willing to sacrifice style when on a budget. I’ve never seen any fashion item priced above $100, so you don’t have to feel any shopper’s guilt if you take yourself on a mini shopping spree. Check out our favorite Cheapskate finds, after the jump.

Target ROCKS! I already have 2 of the item’s on this list, the cowl-neck sweater, they have it in black, purple, & pink, I have the black one. and the majorette jacket, it’s adorable. I’m going to have to check out the website, cause I haven’t seen all these items in the stores yet. That houndstooth dress is adorable!

I love Target. I only let myself go like once a month, though, because otherwise I will give them far too much of my money.
Also, mostly unrelated, but if I never hear the word “recessionista” again, it will be too soon.

arghhh.. I’m on a spending spree, but keep losing weight so everything is too big on me. this really makes me want to shop. especially the black lillian dress and the plaid twill dress. soooo cute! I love target. right before my spending freeze, I got a shawl-collar sweatshirt there, and a jersey skirt with pockets and a little belt. love it. never pay full-price, ladies. it’ll go on sale next week. and if you’re really lucky, it’ll be on the clearance rack.

The best thing about Target is the clothes go on clearance so fast. I’ve never paid more than $6 for a shirt or $10 for a sundress.

I used to love Target’s low prices, until I realized that by shopping in-store and online sales I could get items like those above from places like Banana Republic and Urban Outfitters for about the same price. But they do still have some cute, unique pieces that I would buy.

@Katrina: I agree! To me, Target isn’t “cheap.” I’ve bought cheaper things at higher end stores (sale/clearance, of course!). But, I would never pay full price for Target clothing.
