Gallery: Celebrities Who Are Notoriously Bad Tippers

Madonna

Remember last week when Johnny Depp left a $4,000 tip for a waiter? Yeah, it still makes my heart go pitter-patter. So I was kind of shocked to find out that, despite their bloated bank accounts, many famous people treat waiters and watiresses like crap. We figured we’d give you a few of the worst offenders. Like Madonna, who has been known to leave no tip at all! [AskMen.com]

Here are some other celebs you wouldn’t want seated in your section.

These misers make me sick!  Maybe you can skip tip at the Starbucks counter but not at a restaurant!  El cheapos!

sadly Tiger Woods doesn’t surprise me.  He’s one of the few golfers out there that refuses to sign a golf ball for charity.

After a brief stint in the restaurant biz and with a bartender sister, I’ve realized how important tips are for service workers. I always try to give around 20-22%. Although with really bad (and it has to be really really bad.. like the time the waitress left the restaurant for 20min, so we had no refills and cold food)..I’ll leave 10%.

Anyways, I image being a server for some of these stars would be awful.. they seem demanding without any benefit.  Madonna really is an ice queen.

It does not surprise me that these celebrities are bad tippers. They all kind of seem like jerks and divas anyway so I can’t say I’m too surprised.

Tonight we had a $50.50 bill, so 20% would have been $60.60.  Well I just rounded to an even $60 and my bf looked at me, wanted to know if that was enough, as it wasn’t a full 20%.  This is when you know you have a good (albeit very detail oriented) man.

It’s worked out well for us - we have a usual place we go for date nights, and this one bartender is fabulous, and so we always tip her 25-30%.  Then we started finding a drink here or there that didn’t get rung up, and she was always very helpful.

It’s not that we have a lot - this $60 dinner was a special treat - but god knows there have been times I worried about affording milk and bread, and if I’m in a position to go out, then the server deserves some respect and to not have to worry about where her milk and bread are coming from.

One time me and a bunch of friends went to a diner late and the waitress had obviously been there all day but she was still doing her best not to look tired. Like, she was being especially nice even when one of us took forever to order. None of us had a ton of money for a tip and a lot of it was in change so we put it on the table in the shape of a smiley face along with a note that said ‘Best Waitress EVER’. Then when the waitress came back we told her that we would have given her more if we could because of how awesome she was. She said it was the best tip that she had ever gotten, regardless of the amount, and went into the kitchen and got all of us a cookie from the day-old pile.

People like her make me wish that I was a rich celebrity so that I could leave huge tips for the amazing servers who go above and beyond just bringing you food.

I work as a waitress and literally at least once a week someone I’m serving demands their meal be comped (for one stupid reason or another- the most recent was because it was the end of the night and we were out of the meal she wanted originally) and then doesn’t leave me a tip. It is the rudest, most ridiculous thing. Just because you didn’t pay for your meal doesn’t mean I didn’t work.

Being a waitress has made me so much more bitter. Last night I had four different tables tip me 2% or less. I kid you not. Sure, occasionally you get the really nice people who tip you 20 or 30 percent, but most people are cheap. It’s rather depressing.

why do you comp. anyone?stupid, stupid and stupid!!Treating celebs. like they deserve your undivided star struck attitude only gives them an already exploding head that’s as big as the world,I personally, would be damned if i would keep my restaurant open till for 4 am.Just because some #&@$% who plays a game for a living and definitely is over payed thinks he deserves aww… and some form of special treatment.
You deserve a #&@$% tip or no-tip at all!
Treat everyone the same, you won’t be so disappointed!

Tipping is not customary in Australia.  Many other countries besides the United States, including Australia, have astronomically high minimum wages compared to ours, and tipping is not necessary nor expected.  In some places, tipping is even considered an insult, a way of implying you believe your server is poor.

Take Justin off this list!

@becktasm: no kidding, i’m a waitress too… and ick. it’s gotten worse since the economy’s gone down hill… but honestly, if you don’t have the money for a tip: a) go for fast food or take out OR b) just stay home!!!

I tip everyone, except for rude waitresses/waitors. I don’t give a sh*t if your having a bad day, don’t ruin my meal with your attitude. As for these famous people, thats just wrong. Madonna looks like such a scrooge, that DVD and the autograph is such a slap in the face, I would have thrown that DVD straight back at him. I don’t even like Entourage!

I love reading these lists, and I encourage the ‘outing’ of these entitled f*ckwads whenever possible, because knowing this about them I will never support them again. Not even a .99 download on iTunes. Hopefully they will lose their fans, blow all their money, and end up in the restaurant business. It’s hard to imagine it for some of them, so I take comfort in the knowledge that their food is f*cked with every time they go out. Servers read these lists, trust me.

Yes, I am an ex-waitress.

Thanks for posting this! As a bartender, I fully support outing bad tippers.

Wow. But not a big surprise. In my life I’ve seen, especially people with money, that they’re stingy and frugal. While some people I know with the lowest incomes always give, give, give. Not always, but most of the time.

It’s SO true working in food service leaves you bitter about the human race! I waitressed and tended bar to put myself through college, and it’s amazing how few people even recognize their server is an underpaid, overworked human being - usually a young person struggling to make ends meet. The combination of rudeness, cheapness and condescension is stunning.

That said, I waited on a few celebs over the years - Charles Barkley, Colin Firth, Orlando Bloom - and they were all nice and left big tips. If they hadn’t been, I probably would no longer support them or watch their movies. Let’s out the jerks who believe their ‘celebrity’ makes them better than some kid struggling to get an education!
