Celebrities Flocked To Ann Taylor’s (?) Fashion Show
Fashion Week isn’t just a time for crazy-expensive brands that are out of most people’s price ranges to show what they have coming down the pipeline. Besides the fine looks we saw from Snuggie, Ann Taylor also hosted a show, attended by important editors and celebrities, including Elle‘s Joe Zee, Vanessa Williams, Gretchen Mol, Mena Suvari, Amanda Bynes, Kelly Rutherford, and more.
The clothes shown weren’t what the retailer will be selling come spring 2010, like most shows. Instead, they were items that are available right now. While the whole thing was a marketing ploy to get more people interested in Ann Taylor clothes, it might have worked. Vanessa Williams admitted to being a fan of the dress she wore for the event, which fit her off the rack, and Katherine McPhee told WWD she loves their accessories.

I used to work for AT and I love their clothes. I still have a lot of the things I bought 4 years ago and they still look great. It’s also kind of nice that you don’t have to be a size 4 to look nice in their clothes, and they’re not so trendy that you’ll look silly in pictures 10 years from now.

I’ve never understood why people immediately classify places like Ann Taylor as frumpy and ugly and uncool. I usually get all of my basics (solid colored cardigans, camisoles, slacks, button down shirts) at Ann Taylor because I love the shape and the clothes are great quality at a really good price. The skirts, dresses, and even shoes are awesome as well.

I used to wear more of Ann Taylor when I was working. Now, I generally buy there when there is a sale or I need something for an ‘occasion’ whatever it may be. I do however, buy more stuff from Ann Taylor Loft—they carry great casual items that work for everyday wear.

Haven’t done the AT lately, and seldom Loft anymore. They used to have the best pant fit for my difficult combo: small size with woman-shaped waist and hip curves. Nice, good-quality classics then, but haven’t seen much now with all the inverted shaping of larger waists and no ass. Bring mine back!
