Casual Sex Site Makes Us Sad
Craigslist‘s Casual Encounters is probably the best known place to go for casual sex. However, it’s not the only site you can visit if you want to hook up without dating. OnlineBootyCall.com‘s sole purpose is to connect its 3 million users in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia for hookups. Not dates. Not love. Nothing more than sex. The site’s tagline: “A dating site for singles who enjoy being single.” And, it’s thriving.
While it’s nice there’s a place for booty-seekers to go, instead of mucking up online dating sites for people who are seeking a connection beyond the bedroom, the testimonials from satisfied users are disheartening, and we hope they’re made up.
I have met some fine men on this site.
One I have met, we cant keep our hands off each other. Everytime he looks at me with those sexy eyes, its time! I’ve tried so many new things with him and he has turned me into a lil freak!!!! I love this site!! Thank you!
There is a difference between “finding” the booty and “getting” the booty…
I have no problem “getting” the booty , and this site makes it easy to find the booty…..the rest is up to you fella’s whether or not you actually “get” the booty. Those are the two basic steps involved in getting booty, with this site the first step is virtually eliminated, so the only thing let for you to do is “GET” that booty!! Bottom line, this site is where it’s at. I was a gold member for like 2 days about 2 months ago and I’m still recieving residual booty from that 2-day window.
I had a couple of real good times with members…
Meet and greet to get it fast and furious… one time she was on me before the door closed…
OnlineBootyCall.com even has “booty call commandments,” including: “Thou shalt kiss anything except my mouth,” and “There shall be no cuddling—ever!” Someone’s watched “Pretty Woman” a few too many times.

Catherine, those testimonials sound made up to me. The site’s basically laying out their niche appeal and user friendliness to both genders. I don’t know that many people partaking of the BC that call it “booty” (the name of the site) 20 times in 1 paragraph.
Echo sklut.

I know. That totally cracked me up. I was laughing the whole time I was reading it.

While I find it sad that these sites have apparently so many cheesy-sounding testimonials, I’m not sure I find wanting (SAFE! always safe lol) casual sex with partners with no strings attached. While I have never done it, as long as people are smart about it, I don’t understand why not wanting a relationship but still wanting to quench desire is a “sad” thing.

@Promessa
While that commercial is hella offensive on so many levels (what a BITCH, wanting commitment 6 months in and being offended when her guy BLATANTLY stares and waves at other women), any guy who’s that pathetic is not a guy I’d want to be with, and I’d rather find out 6 months in than 10 years.
This reminds me of an article I read in cosmo (I know, bear with me). It was about tricks guys use to not cheat on their girlfriends when some girl is making a pass at them- texting their friends, calling their girl, etc. It was supposed to be sweet and endearing, but mostly it just pissed me off. I mean, is it that hard not to f*ck other women? Really? Is it THAT much of a struggle? Shouldn’t the fact that you love your girlfriend and don’t want to lose her be enough? I mean, JESUS. It upset me. And douchebags who struggle with not constantly boning other women are the same douchebags who use this site.

There are dozens of such sites, variations on the theme, aiming for slices of the casual sex and dating crowd. AFF is as much or more for singles as it is for swingers ...

And the membership figures are pretty astounding.
OBC is spending a lot of money on marketing ... though I wonder how well they’re doing on having members recruit to win prizes and cash.

What’s really sad is that some people can only feel good about themselves by telling others they’re bad (or sad). Why not, right? After all, everyone’s beliefs and value system should be congruent to such a highbrow, know-it-all.
Is it sad that some people aren’t self-actualized yet but still want to satisfy the most important level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow’s_hierarchy_of_needs We all start at the bottom. There is no shortcut to the top and even when we get there we still need the foundation. Reading this article and the comments made me realize that most of you haven’t reached the top yet, which includes lack of prejudice. Instead, you’re one step below with plenty of self-esteem, confidence, and “achievement.”
Oddly enough, the same people who would criticize a site like onlinebootycall.com are the same people who praise “Sex and the City.” Is it because they can identify with an affluent group of professionals, that it’s OK for them to be promiscuous? It’s easier to criticize things that are different than it is to try to understand them… so allow me to explain: Anyone who has ever had sex without being in a committed relationship has been involved in a type of booty call – like it or not.
It’s ironic that a site called “the frisky” is condescending toward the concept of OBC. It’s unfortunate our URL is not as virtuous as yours, but hey, we still love your work! We’re off to read your recent article “Where Have All the Sluts Gone?” Our members will love it ... Stay classy!

@CheeeeEEEEse: Everyone wants to be witty but few can pull it off. Yes, I do represent the company, and I’m not hiding the fact. Nothing says we can’t defend our brand and if a “clever” writer/blogger wants to cover/attack us they should expect that we will actively be involved. I’m sure you’ll be crafting up a zinger, but I’m done here.

Oh, C’mon. Don’t stop now.
I, for one, think that OBC defending its brand on a blog is interesting in and of itself. There are more than a few companies doing what they are trying to do that keep their heads way down, for a variety of reasons.
If The Frisky had interviewed them for the piece, that might be a different matter. But it didn’t.
