Can “The Today Show” Stop Fawning Over The Duggars?

Jon and Kate Gosselin have eight children. Nadya Suleman has 14. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have 18 and no intention of stopping anytime soon. The Gosselins and Suleman get nothing but bad press, it seems, but Meredith Viera and the rest of “The Today Show” crew practically piss themselves with joy every time the Duggars are on their show. Can someone explain that to me? Today eldest son Josh and his wife Anna were in the studio (with the rest of the clan via satellite) to find out whether they were expecting a girl or a boy, by cutting a cake! The cake was pink which means they are having a girl! And Meredith kept hinting that they should name the first Duggar grandbaby after her, which I suppose, explains all the insane ass kissing. The Duggars are complete loonies. Meredith seems relatively sane. So what’s with the obsession?

The Duggars creep me out.  Most religious fundamentalists do though (no judgement, everyone is entitled to their faith) They fawn all over the Duggars without every getting into WHY they have all those kids.

i have serious issues with people who choose to procreate wildly when so many children are in need of adoption.  i applaud the duggars for being so financially stable (without the obvious ‘selling out’ of their family; i think they made sure to stay out of debt before they had their TV show), but c’mon… it just seems selfish to me that this point (despite their reasoning behind it).

i think its just gross to hav that many kids… ic an’t imagine how my lady bits would work if i kept popping out kids like that.. she had about two to the litter of kids.. if she wanted a big fam she could of adopted some but in anycase i appluad them for keeping their family tight and maybe they manage to stay out of the drama because they do believe in something bigger than themselve so kudos tot hem for stayin virtually drama free

I think NBC/Universal has some sort of corporate agreement with Discovery communications, the company that runs 18 kids and counting. Thats why they have them on so often.

The Duggars have a website that explains why they have so many children.  I don’t agree with their reasoning or heir lifestyle, but they are obviously good parents who love each other very much and care for their children well.  They are definitely antiquated, and I LOVE when the kid’s cousin comes on the show (she is totally normal).  I can’t stand watching Jon and Kate, but I love the Duggars.

im totally against over population. if everyone, or most people even, had 18 kids this country would be f***ed, not that this economy is doing well as it is..

no, i do not look up to these people with a #&@$% load of kids in the media.

I’m sorry, I really am. I try to be tolerant and open to all but this really bugs me; How do they give ALL their kids the attention and love they deserve? What about college?
And the biggest bone of all:
I just can’t respect someone who doesn’t allow their kids to dance. Dancing is one of the most universal joys in the world- how could you rob them of that? Plus, really, in no place in the bible does it condemn dancing- in fact, its celebrated in quite a few places.
I just can’t smile at someone so severely limiting their children.

My theory is that they keep having them on the show all the time because they’re really hoping for a baby to just slide out of Michelle onto the studio floor on camera. Whoops, there’s #19!

i don’t agree with their lifestyle either, but i respect them for being money-savvy and for their general good nature.

I’m waiting for one of those kids to ‘rebel’ and think for her/his-self.

It’s a shame that their older children are raising their children. The parents cannot possibly give 19 children the time they each deserve! Yes, children are a blessing, but why not have 2-3 and be able to give them a good start in life, and not have to do reality TV to make money!!!!
