“Bride Wars”: “Mean Girls” For Grown Women!

Do you ever feel old while watching movies like “Mean Girls” or shows like “Gossip Girl” and “90210” because you’re completely out of the characters’ age range? Sometimes I do. I think to myself, “Why is this stuff so entertaining to me? I don’t have these issues anymore. Am I losing precious brain cells by watching fluff?” Well now we can enjoy bitchy entertainment without remembering our age, thanks to a little movie called “Bride Wars.”

The Mean Girls trend continues! Both Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson star in “Bride Wars,” a rom-com in which grown women play the Mean Girls. Liv (Hudson) and Emma (Hathaway) are best friends that get engaged around the same time. Like typical friends, they plan their weddings together, and even choose the same venue. The claws come out and the insults start biting when they learn that both weddings have been booked for the same day, and both brides refuse to change their venue. Liv and Emma seemingly revert to their Mean Girl tactics of adolescence by trying to sabotage each other’s wedding. You can almost hear them screaming, “I want what I want, when I want it and how I want it!”

I can’t wait until January 9 to see Emma and Liv fight it out woman-style. But hopefully, the inevitable lesson will apply to my adult life.

Kate Hudson is a straight-up Mean Girl Biatch. For a few months earlier this year, I worked at a coffee shop one afternoon a week I waited on quite a few celebs. Hudson was by far the very worst of them, behaving like a spoiled diva, flailing around to the music, demanding everyone’s attention, acting put-out when it was time for her to pay, leaving her trash all over the place when she left, AND not even tipping (on a $20+ bill). No wonder she can’t keep a boyfriend.
