Birth Control Makes You Sterile And Other Lies!
At first glance, Pam Stenzel seems like a pretty good sex educator. As Feministing pointed out, she’s got the cool, hip aunt vibe down pat, making her seem approachable to the average kid curious about sex and protection. Too bad she manages to slip in all sort of scary lies into her lectures, like the fact that “no one has ever had more than one partner and not paid”, girls develop anorexia and bulimia “because of an abortion they couldn’t take back”, and that birth control pills and shots make her “ten times more likely to contract a disease than if she were not taken those drugs, sterile, or dead.” We’re frightened for the audience of teens sitting in front of her, in rapt attention. She spoke at my all girls’ high school, twice. I remember she kept repeating “but we love each otherrr” in a creepy voice. She was basically taunting the audience. A girl fainted. It was fairly traumatic. This was during her thinner, shorter dark-haired days.

Goood for you Pam! someone needs to scare these young men and women of tomorrow and give them the cold hard facts, pregnancy is natural, STD’s are not, and most of them are not cureable….i say good for her and the kids who she can reach and touch when their own parents arent carrying the ball…i wish you all would realize our young girls are giving up a part of them selves each time they have sex with a new partner who could give a care less about them, let all young women know they are worth waiting for…they are worth something and so is their self esteem!

There has to be some middle ground here. Sex does have consequences and those need to be taken into consideration before you start bedding someone or multiple someones but to go so far as lying and using these horrific scare tactics is inexcusable because they will without a doubt backfire. Kids aren’t stupid they’ll find out if you lie and if they find you lying they tend to throw out the baby with the bathwater and ignore everything you have said.
