This article is the perfect example of why I don’t understand racism and why I can’t wait to see what my daughter’s daughter’s generation will look like.  The melding of different types of people results in making everyone beautiful.

Jessica has lost internet points for the blatant use of city-centric baseball fandom.

These possibilities brought to you by a century and a half of the liberal cause. (No, I didn’t say which party names are applicable—it’s the ideas that matter.)

I’m a gigantic fan of the halfies, being one myself (Filipna mom and white dad), BUT this gallery is 95% black/white mixes, which is all well-and-good, but where’s Vanessa Hudgens or Nicole Scherzinger or Keanu Reeves?  I know I’m being totally ridiculous, but I feel like the half-asians get so much less love in these sorts of things, and I just wanted to give a shout-out to them.

This is one of many reasons I can’t wait until my baby is born - I’m white (Irish/German/Anglo-Saxon mutt) and my husband is a first generation Chinese immigrant - so I am so excited to see what our little girl looks like!

And @jimnist10: I agree that, in the media, half-asians get a lot less attention than other biracial mixes, but in day to day life, I feel like half-asians, especially girls, get a LOT of attention because they tend to be so beautiful.

Meh.  Damon was a lot hotter when he was scruffier, dirtier, and…Oh yeah, played for the Red Sox.

Just sayin’.  smile

What exactly is “white” is most of these captions? It would be a lot more interesting if we had specific “white” ethnicities.

I agree, B. Khuu. I also never understand why people obsess about sticking to their “race”. What is it exactly, anyway? I have a multiracial family. I have a cousin with blue eyes and white skin - her mother is black (Haitian). I look black, my mother is Haitian, my father is German. My boyfriend looks a little bit Italian (the resemblance to Chris Carrabba is truly uncanny), but - surprise, surprise! He has a black step-grandfather and his grandmother on his mother’s side was mulatto. Uh, I guess his family did the math or something because he told me he works out to be about 15% black (lol). His younger sister and himself came out with pale skin, brown eyes, and brown hair; his younger brother came out with blonde hair and blue eyes. But oh yes, that younger brother is also 15% black. We humans have been mixing for so long there is no “pure” race. Eastern Europeans have strong Mongolian influence in their bloodline, for example, and that’s where they get prominent bone structure.

impodditty, I agree with you too. Where’s Maggie Q? Lindsay Price? There are more mixes than just black and white.

Note to DancerNinja: the referenced judge was not from Mississippi. He was a justice of the peace from Louisiana.

Damon is gorgeous. Everytime I’m stuck watching the game in my guy friends’ suite I always have to do a double take before I realize who the hottie on the field is (Damon). However, being from New England I’m still just offended by his presence on the Yankees. How can you go from Red Sox to Yankees? Hmph. I dont even like baseball and I know that’s a party foul to the extreme.

I guess I’m in the minority here, but I find the fetishization and stereotyping of mixed raced people as inherently ‘hot’ and ‘exotic’ troublesome.

theyre not all hot.  but a lot of them are.  and i dont really think finding hot people sexually attractive is a fetish…

@MuchoMacho

No, finding hot people sexually attractive isn’t a fetish, and I don’t think my post suggested such.  What I AM saying is that the beauty standard that props up young, thin, white, blonde, blue-eyed people (particularl women) is being supplanted by a standard that values young, thin, dark-featured.  What’s bad about this newer standard is 1) it’s just as unattainable as the prototypical blonde/blue-eyed one and 2) the excessive fawning over mixed race folks is being construed as a movement toward racial progress.

Truth be told, mixed people aren’t all that better looking than your run-of-the-mill monoracial person. for every Halle Berry you have a Rain Pryor. For every Amerie you have a Michael Yo.  There is nothing inherently unique about mixed-race people as a whole.  They’ve existed for centuries.  Making it seem like all, or most of them are hot only upholds the notion that all non-white are automatically ‘exotic’ and ‘special.’
