Beauty Test Drive: Diorshow Iconic Mascara
Generally speaking, I’m happy with my mascara. Fiberwig and I have been through a lot together and it’s remained pretty true, never smudging and leaving me raccoon-eyed when I’m going for smoky-eyed. But every once in a while, you’ve just got to try something new. When I received a bag of Dior goodies to road-test the other day, I knew the time had come to betray the mascara that’s seen me through everything from first dates to weddings. (Other people’s weddings, that is…)
I felt a little dirty at first, as I swiped on the Diorshow Iconic mascara, wand clenched in my sweaty, guilty hand. Then something amazing happened.
Within seconds, the guilt evaporated as I started noticing how good my eyes looked. Damn good, actually. The stuff is miraculous. All of a sudden, my lashes were so long that they were colliding with my eyelids in an aggressive sort of battle for more space. My only complaint is that the stuff is a tad tricky to remove. Unlike my former mascara lover, it doesn’t just wash away with water. But if you’re not so unbelievably lazy that you consider makeup remover a dealbreaker, you’ll be fine… [$27, Dior, Sephora]

I have always love the Diorshow mascara in Blackout. The only other mascara that I use is Chanel Inimitable Waterproof mascara.

I’ve been itching to try this stuff and I think this review might finally make it happen. Mascara is the only makeup I wear every day without fail… when I think of it that way, $27 for a tube doesn’t seem THAT indulgent.

I’ll stick to my $4 Maybelline Great Lash in the pink/green tube. I’ve tried the $30 a tube stuff and its not near as good.

I’ve been in love with Dior mascara since I started using it a couple years ago. The waterproof is with out fail the best waterproof mascara out there. Well worth the money. Plus the tube lasts a good long while.

Tell me this: how did it stand up to sweat or humidity? That, I find, is the downfall of most mascaras I’ve tried. One hard workout, and it’s running down your cheeks.

@DancerNinja- as an avid summer sweater (yeah, gross), i can tell you first hand that i had no mascara running in spite of the nasty heat. Now, I wasn’t running, but I bike around the city all day and don’t have trouble with running. Not too shabby.

This mascara is, in my experience, the best out there. I have done Chanel, MAC, the cheap stuff ... and this is really the best. I love it in Blackout!
The waterproof is definitely the best I’ve had, I live and work in DC and got rid of my car for the city living, so there is lots of running around in heels in the hot summer sun, and it never smears or runs, no matter how often I rub my eyes or how much I sweat ... I sometimes I even head straight to the gym after work and the Dior mascara doesn’t even start to run after an hour workout!
Truly worth the money… my lashes look super long and I’ve gotten many compliments on my lashes since starting to use Dior mascaras last year.
