Anonymous Blogger To Be Revealed, Promptly Sued
If someone started a blog about you, where they posted photos and called you a “skank” and a “ho,” what would you do? Would you sue? That’s exactly what Liskula Cohen wants to do, but the blogger behind “Skanks in NYC,” which is devoted to trashing the blonde model, is anonymous. However, a Manhattan judge ruled yesterday that Google—which owns Blogger.com, the blogging platform that hosts “Skanks in NYC”—must give up the identity of the anonymous writer behind it.
The anonymous blog has argued that the content on the blog is “non-actionable opinion and/or hyperbole”—i.e. “trash talk.” But the judge who ruled in the case says that Cohen does have legal ground to stand on and must be granted the identifying information necessary to sue. The blog’s many references to Cohen “whoring” and being “ready to engage in oral sexual activity” imply that she’s sexually promiscuous, therefore Cohen can sue for defamation.
So, if all this is true, why haven’t the dozens of women who’ve had their images scrawled over with the words “slut” and “whore” sued Perez Hilton yet? [NY Post]

if my memory serves me correctly, i think it’s much harder for someone considered a public figure (i.e. famous) to sue a civilian for defamation of character. once you’re considered a public figure you’re pretty much open to anything and everything, which is often why celebs are hard pressed to sue publications over certain issues.
the judge is right in the fact that she should be allowed to the information necessary to sue, but once she sues i’m not sure there’s much of a leg to stand on (depending on how famous this chick is….)

ok, here’s my beef: if you’re a celebrity, SUCK IT UP!!! that’s part of the deal when you become famous. if you can’t handle having someone talk sh*t about you, then maybe you shouldn’t be a celebrity. basically, unless what this c*nt is saying is seriously affecting your career (i.e., you’re getting turned down for photo shoots b/c you’re perceived to be a slut), then just ignore it. this blogger obvs. doesn’t have the balls to reveal herself, so why should you take the time to find out who it is anyway. I get that having an entire blog dedicated to ridiculing you is pretty hurtful, but, that’s life. just ignore it and move on. jeez people!!!

Why would anyone go to great lengths to be mean to another person? Okay celebs have it good but they shouldn’t be treated differently than anyone else. I live by the rule treat others how you want to be treated. Even if this woman is a “skank” or even if she’s a mean bitch two wrongs don’t make a right. I guess I’m just a NICE person. I find this wrong and that this person should have to at least stop or face some type of penalty I don’t think she should get money but this is defamation and is not allowed. Didn’t Tom Cruise sue a tabloid because they said he was gay? It’s just wrong and it should be stopped. By the way a lawsuit doesn’t mean you’re going to get money she could be suing for a restraining order.

I saw the pictures. I don’t understand why she’s sueing. I mean, in the pictures, she was clearly behaving like a skank. I guess I should sue somebody for calling me black, too. How dare they!

Too bad wordpress refuses to do anything about the Skinhead that was posting racist things in my blog. At least I let him know that his IP address gave away his geographic coordinates that I was reporting to the police (in which I did…he was posting some really really inflamed statements, and went as far as to threaten to rape and kill me)...
...I noticed how he disappeared.
