Who are the producers kidding to think that viewers care about emotional journeys? This show is really like two shows. The first part is all about watching people publicly humiliate themselves, with a sprinkling of good singers so you can compose yourself from all the laughing. And the second part is taking bets on who will win and what song(s) they will/should pick! As soon as someone wins, no one cares anymore.
Don’t take away the laughter American Idol producers! Don’t you know your audience after all these years??? Remember William Hung? Now that was funny!

i was there for 2, 5 and 6. i worked auditions that year. you can’t make this stuff up, seriously.
