American Apparel Tries To Make Tie Dye Happen
Sure, I had a tie dye kit ... when I was 11. But American Apparel‘s come up with the idea to sell bottles of dye for $4 so crafty daredevils can artfully stain their own tights, men’s briefs and zip hoodies. Tanks, harem pants, and tube bras which have already been tie dyed are a safer bet if you’re worried about turning your fingers swirly purple, blue and green. Hmm, will hip hippies hop on the love bus? Somehow, I don’t see this one happening as a trend for fall. Maybe a pride of hipsters who all look like they wandered home from a Phish concert will prove me wrong. [American Apparel Tie Dye]

Hahahahahah, in this economy I can’t believe anyone would be crazy enough to hitch themselves to the tie-dye wagon! This won’t end well.

I already have a bone to pick with American Apparel (spandex head bands)...
this is just amazing to me.
I agree with Sheila, not only is this poorly timed but it is tacky.

I’ve gotten better tie-dyes at a Grateful Dead show. From someone also selling whip-its and falafel. The last two just look like you had an accident with a bleach bottle this was the end result. If I’m going to wear tie-dye, I want happy colors!

Tie-dye is fun and ok when:
1. you’re a kid
2. you’re at summer camp
3. you’re doing it as a family bonding thing WITH your kids
4. you attend a Grateful Dead show (required uniform)
Tie-dye is a tragedy and is to be avoided:
1. in all forms, at all other times

This AA Tie Dye is an example of when retro is *not* chic.
Some of the prints look like autorads of DNA – not like the original organic forms that bespeak their time.
