Album Drop: This Week’s New Releases, From Scarlett Johansson To Kid Cudi
It’s new release Tuesday, so it’s time to take the latest tunes for a spin! And honey, there are some pretty sweet releases this week. ScarJo and Pete Yorn make up a breakup, Muse finds resistance is futile, Megadeth unleashes the beast, Drake shows us “Degrassi” is greener on the other side, Mason Jennings raises his family record, and we’re over the moon about Kid Cudi. So, let’s get into the groove, after the jump!
Pete Yorn, Break Up
Scarlett Johansson can sing—she proved that on her gritty and pretty Tom Waits cover record. Although this record is catchy and cute, she still pulls it out with Pete Yorn. Feel free to act surprised.
Kid Cudi, Man On The Moon: The End Of Day
Kid Cudi is so chill, we’re still feelin’ him on his debut record after becoming completely obsessed with his mixtape. We wish we were feelin’ him “Day n’ Nite.”
Drake, So Far Gone
Drake, aka “Jimmy” on “Degrassi,” has dropped this EP and has a full-length record following next year. But he’s already got a lotta buzz and some sweet tracks with Lil Wayne. “So Far Gone”—more like “Gonna Go Far.”
Muse, The Resistance
Euro trio Muse is back with electro anthems that feel like Freddie Mercury (RIP) would have loved the chance to belt ‘em out.
Mason Jennings, Blood Of Man
This 30-something, guitar-strumming daddy’s songs make even the most hardened single gal wanna get married and have his freckly babies. Consider yourself warned.
Megadeth, Endgame
Yes, girrrl, Megadeth is still unleashing the dark guitar thunder.

This stuff is alright, but I’ll always be an early Megadeth fan (Holy Wars!!)

I’ll be checking out the Muse album for sure, Uprising is one of my favorite songs right now.
That song by Drake is pretty catch. I still can’t believe the dude in the wheelchair from Degrassi is a rapper now.

Muse is probably one of the only bands whose albums I can listen to from start to finish - can’t wait to check it out for some new study music.
My particular favorite Muse song of the moment is ‘Knights of Cydonia’...makes me feel like I’m in a futuristic western or ‘The Fifth Element’ or something.
