Adam Lambert’s Ultra Manly Album Cover
When I saw this album cover, before my first cup of coffee for the day, I thought this was Pink going through a blue period. But nope, it’s the cover for Adam Lambert‘s first album, For Your Entertainment. Folks on the interwebs are calling it “glamtastic,” but I think it’s a few steps beyond that—homedude got in a time machine, traveled back to the ‘80s, went to the mall for a Glamour Shot, and paid extra for the “extreme airbrushing” package. Do you like this cover, or think it’s way over the top?

He looks too much like a woman. He’s a good looking guy who happens to be gay and doesn’t have to look so feminine to sell his album. (This really would have fit right in in the 80s. Right next to Culture Club. I think he’s channeling a little Boy George here. I can almost hear him saying, “Do you really want to hurt me?”)
Also, why is he naked, why is his left shoulder so long, and where did his right shoulder go? Did it slide down into his left shoulder? Someone call the Photoshop police!

Huh…you know, I think that guy may not be 100% straight.

So glad I’m not the only one who saw Pink when I first saw the album cover.

I thought of Pink as well. It is a throwback for sure, I’m so over the overly airbrushed look though, it’s very distracting.

It makes me wonder if his label and/or the “American Idol” brass are trying to make the album cover look so cheesy that it will turn potential customers away. He’s got talent, so here’s hoping his music overcomes the bad marketing.

I was thinking of Gary Glitter, sans the gigantic hair and child pornography. I like the idea of it, I mean it suits his schtick, but the layout is really terrible.

I don’t really know much about this guy, musically, but this album cover absolutely reminds me of Bowie, and his gender-bending androgyny. I LOVES me some Bowie.
So shine on, you crazy diamond.

@lindseylee21: I was getting more of a Patrick Nagel vibe (which the Rihanna cover totally had), but you may have a point.

He looks so pretty! However, the typography makes me want to cry. Of course, the 80s is coming back in full force so this is no surprise.

OK who is this album going to be marketed to. Any straight guy will take serious grief if he has this album in his possession. And are girls going to buy this album when they know that he is not singing about them. It is like this is being purposely marketed to the gay club scene.

It’s over the top, and that’s why I like it.
