Abercrombie Doesn’t Think A Prosthetic Arm Is Very “All-American”
So maybe it’s time Abercrombie & Fitch reviewed its “Look Policy,” which requires employees to project a “natural, classic, American-style.” It sounds cute, but their insistence on it is becoming costly. A&F has already shelled out millions of dollars to employees who felt discriminated against by the policy—and they just might be paying more. Riam Dean, a 22-year-old disabled British student who worked for A&F’s London flagship store, claims she was forced to work in the stockroom because her prosthetic arm didn’t fit the company’s “look.” But perhaps Dean shouldn’t have been so surprised by A&F’s shallowness.. When she interviewed for the job, she says “All they seemed interested in was taking my photograph to make sure I had the right image.” [Daily Mail U.K. via Jezebel]

Heh… a friend of mine (5’5”, geeky Asian guy with glasses) went for a job interview at Abercrombie and they practically threw him out of there. As he got up to leave he took off his jacket because he was getting warm… and they saw his buff arms, called him back and asked when he could start. He lasted about a week before he got fed up with it. I think that little anecdote says all you need to know about Abercrombie.

I can barely walk past an Abercrombie & Fitch store at the mall. The smell of that place gives me an instant headache. And why do they have to be so dark inside? So nobody notices that their clothes are paper thin and overpriced?

She is very pretty, and too good for Abercrombie’s so-called “look”. Eff ‘em.

Yeah, because when I think Abercrombie, I think introspective and ethically concerned.

Honestly, I’ve only been in that store one time. A friend dragged me in. One word for their #&@$%: BOR-ING!
