A Sleek (And Sneaky) Way To Use A Bobby Pin
Check out Lo Bosworth‘s hair, above, while filming “The Hills” along with Kristin Cavallari—now, look a little closer, see the bobby pin? Lo is using it to not only keep her hair in place (a great way to fight the hair fight on windy days), but to also give her side parted hair a slight lift. Rather than letting her hair fall limply, the strategically placed bobby pin gives the parted hair a relaxed, soft vibe. Do it yourself, it takes seconds: Take your already parted hair, and section off the top layers. Sweep ‘em back, making sure you do this softly and don’t pull your hair too taught. Then just slide the bobby pin in about halfway down the length of your hair. For a true don’t-look-twice look, buy the bobby pins that most closely match your hair. Love it.

super cute! bobby pins are seriously the hair accessory that never go out of style. (nice tip, though it’s “taut,” not “taught”)

That’s surprisingly cute. Though, I have trouble keeping bobby pins in my hair. Does anyone have advice for making bobby pins stay put in thin, (very) straight hair?

@belongsomewhere- you want to put some product on your hair to make the bobby pins hold. Straight hair can be very slick when freshly washed so they want to slide out or even down the hair. If you have hair spray, gel, surf spray, etc. it will give slight texture to your hair helping bobby pins stay. You can also try to spray a little spritz of hairspray on a bobby pin before placing it. Hope that helps!

belongssomewhere - When they slide out of my hair, I do an X with two bobby pins, and that’s usually far more secure. Make sure to grab some “under-hair” with each pin

i actually bought some amazing bobby pins that were unlike the typical ones, the top cut off a little before the bottom extended giving it a tighter hold without falling out..
i cant find them anywhere now, so now i tightly hang on to the 5 that i have left :[
