A Grade School View Of Marriage

flower ring

A friend of mine just heard that his 9-year-old godson proposed to a girl in his class who he’s been crushing on. Last night at a skating party, he bought a plastic ring and asked her to marry him. The kid’s mom told him, “If she says yes, you’ll have to pay for her the rest of her life.” But even that harsh reality check didn’t deter him. The 9 year old said, “It would be worth it.” If only adults retained this attitude, divorces wouldn’t be so messy—or even exist! We’re still waiting to hear whether the girl said “yes.”

AWWWWW Kids are SOOOOOOO cute when it comes to little playground crushes! However, if I were married to the first kid that asked me in 2nd grade, I’d be married to a Meth Dealer in a small Oklahoma town… Ah, Young love! smile

Indeed Shanna - one of my earliest gradeschool crushes had a baby with his then gf when they were 13 years old!  To think that could have been me ... raspberry

That is SO ADORABLE. My youngest brother (he’s 8) has his first crush and he gets SO SHY when we ask him about her… kids have such a pure view of what love should be. Sometimes I wish I still saw through their eyes. Being jaded is no fun.

That is the cutest thing ever!  If only it were always that easy and loving.

How sweet!

I had a “boyfriend” in kindergarten.  He used to tell me: “It’s okay to color outside the lines.  We’re just kids.”  One of my girl friends told my mom about him and I was pissed.  I’ve kept my love life as secret as possible from my mom ever since!

yeah, i had a grade school boyfriend, we were the best man and maid of honor at one of our friends 2nd grade weddings during recess.  *sigh* they broke up a few weeks later and that’s why i always liked to play house but didn’t want to get too serious and get married.

yeah, in second grade i had this talk with my boyfriend because our friends broke up, i can hardly belive we took it that seriously.

That’s so adorable! Wouldn’t it be such a strange thing if when they got older, they truly fell in love? That would be memorable on my mental library. I’d try to keep that information in my back pocket.

That is such a cute story.  My friends Valerie and Jake started “dating” when we were all in 3rd grade.  They are actually married now (unsure if happily or not) but isn’t that crazy?  That you could actually find your true love when you’re so long.  Maybe we do lose something when we grow up? lol raspberry

My boyfriend had a crush on me in the 2nd grade. He moved away after that year but we ended up finding each other again smile
