90210 Redux: Did It Live Up To Your Expectations?
Last night was the premiere of the remake of the greatest teen drama ever made—90210. Catherine and I immediately started IMing about our impressions the second we got into The Frisky offices this morning—our convo is after the jump, but check out a clip of the show above if you were crazy enough to miss it.

Yeah, Brenda’s storyline was kind of boring last night. And couldn’t she have updated her hair a little? I can’t wait to find out who is the father of Kelly’s son. And I hope the secret adopted baby storyline is interesting. It would be cliche if Annie dates him without knowing he’s her brother. And I was surprised Lori Loughlin didn’t annoy me as much as she did on Full House. I love the grandma. And I heart Dixon. I was a little skeptical about him playing a Beverly Hills teen after he kicked butt as a drug dealer/caregiver in The Wire, but I’m not anymore. He totally fits into this role.

I agree with Annika on Brenda’s hair. Get so kerastase and tame that. Also anxiously awaiting to hear who the babydaddy is. I’m into the show. I think that it has potential and will grab 20-somethings the same way Gossip Girl has. It’s like Gossip Girl meets The OC. Thinking Annie has a lot of balls though for a new student, when she was singing for Spring Awakening and dancing I was a little put off. Maybe that’s because I was like a nervous nelly all of freshman year? oh well.

I’m so glad you clipped that scene! It was my favorite too: http://www.entertonement.com/collections/2875/The-Jet-Set

My friend has a theory that Sammy is Brandon’s son because Kelly was on the phone with her baby daddy and then a few minutes later opened the door and said to Brenda, “I was just talking to your brother.” If memory serves there was at least a couple of scenes or commercial in between so I would need to watch again to confirm… but it might have been a subtle hint at a [HUGE!] future storyline.

Perhaps I will just have to re-watch the episode so we can see for sure. Twist my arm.
