70-Year-Old Grandmother Has The World’s Smallest Waist

Cathie Jung’s obsession with everything Victorian led her to reduce her 26-inch waist to 15 inches, the circumference of a DVD, in the hopes of achieving the perfect hourglass figure. “I was the sort of teenager in ‘50s when small waists were in vogue, and when I got into my 40s, the kids were gone. I realized I was going the way of all women my age and starting to look a little dumpy and frumpy,” Jung said to ABC News “20/20.” So she began to wear corsets day and night with the help of her husband, who is also fascinated by the Victorian era. She only removes the corsets to shower. Jung now holds the Guinness World Record for tiniest waist, a feat that some would say is unhealthy. However, her husband, an orthopedic surgeon, says it’s all right to wear corsets as much as his wife does as long as there aren’t breathing problems. Also, he says the corsets prevent her from eating a lot, much like stomach stapling would. [ABC News]
Corsets are way too restrictive to us, so we’ll just be fascinated with Jung instead. You can learn more about her, and others who’ve gone to extreme lengths to alter their body, on tonight’s episode of “Taboo” on the National Geographic Channel at 10 pm.

If I block her waist with my thumb so as to make things appear more normal, I’d say she looks amazing for someone her age. But, removing my thumb and looking at her entire picture, I think it’s… disturbing.
But not a tenth as disturbing as the other woman in the linked article - the one with fingernails totaling (for all hands) 27 feet. Good God… now that is disturbing.

@retro chic: Corset training is basically wearing corsets to the point where you can achieve smaller waistlines and sometimes even permanently change your body shape, though thats unusual. This chick has gone to super extremes and probably isn’t even able to take her corset off. Most people who do corset training can do this, obviously, and it won’t permanently affect their shape.

To me, she just wanted to get into the Guiness Book of Records as a way of getting her fame in print.
Personally, she does look a bit silly and no doubt it is hard for her to eat unless she had gotten used to it or takes it thru IV!
Those of us who are “excedingly average” just need to read this stuff and not think we ‘need’ to copy her or anybody else - celebs included.
Also, I was helping someone yesterday and a group of late teen/early 20’s women came by. Ultra short shorts, bikini tops, flat-chested and sporting tattoos and body piercings. They looked silly! One did look pretty from the front sittingat a table, but as soon as she got up and I saw her body art, short shorts and ‘rings’ all over the place, I turned away, as did a bunch of my buddies!

Ew. This grosses me out every time I see her.
He may be an orthopedic surgeon, but he is obviously also really getting his rocks off on this because it cannot be healthy. I saw them on TV once when he described how all the organs move around to create the small waist - AHHHHHHHHH!

I have to go with jsw and lilypie—gross and disturbing. It can’t be that comfortable either.
