10 Ways Not To Say “I Love You”
On Monday night’s “Gossip Girl” season finale, Chuck told Blair he loves her. While the gesture was nice, the words missed the mark. He didn’t say, “I love you.” He said, “I love you, too.”
Adding the “too” is fine every once in a while, but it’s definitely not cool the first time someone says it. The “too” takes the emphasis off how they feel about you, and it reinforces how you feel about them. Keep reading for other no-nos when you’re saying those three words.
- Don’t omit the “I” and say “Love you.”
- Don’t type “i luv u” or “luv ya” in a text or email message. A few extra letters aren’t that much extra work.
- Don’t look at something else when you say it.
- Don’t say “I love you” to get something you want.
- Don’t expect the other person to say it back.
- Don’t say “Ditto.”
- Don’t say it for the first time right after having sex.
- Don’t spell it out in food or rose petals.
- Don’t use it as a way to end an argument.
- Don’t say it in a baby voice.

12. Don’t say “I love you” as if you’re constipated AND someone is holding a gun to your head. I dated a guy for 4 1/2 years who never said it to begin with and when he did, it was not very convincing.

I HATE….HATE when someone writes “luv ya” or something like that.
A mean…you are telling me you LOVE ME but you can’t at least write it properly?
I feel like… you don’t really feel it and you’re lazy ¬¬

“I think I’m in love with you”, or one of the many other variations of that in NOT OK. You either do or you don’t, and if you haven’t figured it out yet, then keep your mouth shut until you’ve made up your mind!

Uhg! I hate “you too”, it totally takes the person responding out of the equation and avoids actually saying the word LOVE. I heard “you too” a lot and i was heartbroken in a relationship for a long time.
