Taylor Momsen Strips And Catches Fire In New Video

Taylor Momsen’s band, The Pretty Reckless, has just released the music video for its single, appropriately titled “Make Me Wanna Die.” In it, 17-year-old Momsen strips down to her skivvies and then catches on fire. Nudity! Pyro! Where are her parents?! [via Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Album Drop: This Week’s New Releases, From The Drums To The Walkmen

This Tuesday, the tuneage truck dropped the mother lode of mp3 hotness. The last couple weeks in Record Town have been slow. But, bam! Today there are so many awes albums my mind has been blown … and so has my music budget. This week, Weezer, Chromeo, The Drums, Le Savy Fav, Trey Songz, Brandon Flowers, Black Mountain, Black Angels, Of Montreal and The Walkmen, are all giving us something we can feel. So get those headphones on, girl, because it’s about to get all kinds of rad! Keep reading »

Lady Gaga Breaks Up A Fight

On Tuesday night, Lady Gaga stopped a show in the middle of her song “Monster” to break up a fight. “Stop fighting. Do not fight at this show,” she said. “Is she OK? Are they both OK? I don’t know who hit who. I’m sorry, I just don’t want you to fight… I wasn’t very cool in high school and used to get beat up all the time.” Then she launched back into it. I gotta applaud Gaga for pointing out that fighting is not cool. Where was she for the Sammi/J-Woww fight on “Jersey Shore“? [Radar] Keep reading »

Rich Cronin, Frontman Of LFO, Is Dead At 35

You may not know Rich Cronin, the frontman of the late ’90s group LFO, by name—he never hit it as big as some of his fellow boy banders. But if you watch the video for LFO’s biggest hit, “Summer Girls,” you will quickly recognize him as the one who likes girls who wear Abercrombie & Fitch. I’m sad to report that Rich died yesterday—he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005 and had a related stroke this week. Sad! Keep reading »

Old-School Wednesdays: “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It”

It’s funny the little things we remember. Like, how I stayed home one day to memorize the lyrics to this song (I still know all of them). Or how I can’t watch this video for R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” without thinking about how my friend Rachel said she was going to marry the boy in the video one day. The adorable boy in the video, it turns out (thanks Google!), is Noah Ray, a scrawny kid from Athens, Georgia, who happened to be plucked from obscurity and made a video star. Sadly, his R.E.M. affiliation ended up kind of ruining his life. He was teased so mercilessly for being in the video that he dropped out of high school, and now fronts his own terribly named band, Music Hates You. So no, Rachel never did marry him. Keep reading »

Willow Smith Whips Her Hair Back ‘N’ Forth

What do we think of 9-year-old Willow Smith’s new single “Whip My Hair”? She kind of sounds like a mini-Rihanna. If “hair whipping” takes off for the ‘tween crowd, she may be the youngest pop sensation of all time. Keep reading »
