Slutty Dancing Crackdown At Britney Spears’ Concert!

Here’s a nonsensical one for you. On Tuesday, three women were supposedly bounced from a Britney Spears concert for … wait for it … dancing “too provocatively.” The girls say they were ganked from their seats by security after someone complained about their moves during the song “Get Naked,” causing the girls to miss three songs. I doubt a few girls in a row of seats could do anywhere near as much damage as scantily clad Brit Brit was likely doing on stage. All I have to say is, “Pot. Meet kettle.” [NY Post] Keep reading »

TLC To Perform For The First Time In Seven Years

Don’t go chasing waterfalls. Instead, make sure to get tickets (or at least set up your DVR) to Justin Timberlake‘s Shriners Hospital for Children benefit concert in Las Vegas on October 17, where TLC will be giving their first live performance in seven years. In 2002, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was killed in a car accident, but the two remaining members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas (who has a VH1 dating show premiering soon), know the show must go on. Also performing at the concert will be Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and Ciara. No scrubs, indeed. [People] Keep reading »

Aubrey O’Day Takes On New Order

New Order’s amazing “Bizarre Love Triangle” is one of the most-covered songs of all time. I was down with Frente’s acoustic take on it for that movie “Threesome” forever ago. But I dunno about Aubrey O’Day‘s new version, which throws out the old lyrics and makes it all about how she’s media roadkill. Sample lyric: “Everytime they see us fallin’, they get down on their knees and hate.” Uh, no wonder Diddy kicked her out of Danity Kane? Keep reading »

Ryan Gosling Wants Your Children

Hey guys, guess what I am doing on October 15? Oh, I dunno, seeing Ryan Gosling’s band Dead Man’s Bones perform in New York City. No biggie. It’s not like I’ve started planning various outfits that might seduce The Gos. [I have.]

Actually, the coolest part about the Dead Man’s Bones tour is that Gosling and band mate Zach Shields are auditioning local choirs in each of the 12 spots they’re hitting to perform with them. Their debut album features vocals from the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir, but they can’t bring the tykes on tour with them, so they’re giving the opportunity to new kids in each town they visit.

Um, does anyone have a singing child I can borrow to pass off as my own? Email me. [Scanner] Keep reading »

Mariah Carey Gives The Grammys The Finger

Mariah Carey is really sick of being shafted by the Grammys — she’s been nominated 21 times, but has only won five awards. So this year, the songbird has basically told the Grammy people to kiss it where the sun don’t shine. Mariah pushed back the release of her album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, to Sept. 29, one day after the Grammy cut-off date. The album’s first single, “Obsessed,” debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 at No. 11, so don’t try to theorize that the album is garbage and Mariah’s trying to save face. She doesn’t need the Grammy accolades because her career has been successful with only five awards. Plus, she’s kind of throwing a bone to Whitney Houston, whose first album in seven years will be released Sept. 1. Who’s a diva now? [NY Daily News] Keep reading »

Quote Of The Day: Scarlett Johansson Lives Life When She’s Transient

“Both of us were in a transient place. I’ve been working since I was 8 years old, and whenever I have periods of time when I don’t have to be doing anything, where I don’t have any responsibility, it’s in those moments that I live my life. I felt, as the word transient would suggest, in between two places. In between a beginning and an end. And I think Pete also had that feeling of being in between, of being everywhere and nowhere at once.”

— Scarlett Johansson on how she and Pete Yorn came to collaborate on the album “Break Up.” With all this talk about living life most fully when she’s feeling transient, Scarlett sounds a lot like her character, Charlotte, in the 2003 movie, “Lost in Translation.” [via NY Mag] Keep reading »

It’s new release Tuesday, so it’s time to take the latest tunes for a spin! So, let’s punk out with Jay Reatard, relive “Twilight” with Mutemath, hold onto dear life with the Antlers, get turned out with Ledisi, rock on with Brendon Benson, take a sonic stroll with As Tall As Lions, and booty bump with Sean Paul. Get into the groove, after the jump. Keep reading »

Scarlett Johansson Teams Up With Pete Yorn In A New Music Video

It seems Scarlett Johansson is the go-to Hollywood starlet for music videos these days. First, there was the video she made with Bob Dylan for his single, “When The Deal Goes Down,” in which she was featured in a “montage of sixties-style home movie clips.” Then, she starred in Justin Timberlake’s music video for his single, “What Goes Around Comes Around,” in which she’s a blond bombshell Timberlake spends the duration of the video seducing. Now, Scarlett joins Pete Yorn in a video for the single “Relator,” from their collaborative album, “Break Up.” Keep reading »

Rachel Zoe DIES for Bob Dylan

You can tell a lot about a person by the kind of music they like. We know Rachel Zoe‘s clothing preferences (expensive vintage dresses, Hermes Birkin bags, face-covering sunglasses) from her reality TV show. We know her current fashion and beauty picks from her newsletter. Now, with the release of her iTunes playlist, we know her taste in music.

While the decades most significantly represented (the ’60s and ’70s) make sense given that she loves vintage clothing from those eras, we would have guessed there would have been some less obvious current artists than Madonna and Coldplay. Rachel’s assistant Taylor dresses all rock’n’ roll with tons of black eyeliner and messy hair, so shouldn’t she be cluing Rachel in to some less overplayed tunes? After the jump, Rachel’s commentary on her taste in music. Keep reading »
