Who Should Be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?

Hard to believe, but the Beastie Boys are really kind of old. This week, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced that the Beasties, along with 14 other nominees, were selected for the short list for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Among the nominees for rock immortality: The Beastie Boys, Jon Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Chic, Donovan, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits, and Chuck Willis also made the short list.

Seal And Heidi Klum Leave Nothing A Secret In New Music Video

We’re really glad that Seal and Heidi Klum are so in love and all. But Seal’s new music video for his single “Secret,” featuring him and Heidi butt naked in bed and lightly caressing one another, has hit my “feeling violated button.” I’m really uncomfortable watching them touch intimately for a full 3:28. Especially the part when he’s gently cupping her breasts. Argh! Gross! It’s like watching your parents make out or something. Too bad this perfectly good song is ruined by their saccharine display of man-and-wife-in-love explosion. I’ve got a secret for them: this video makes me want to take a shower. Meet Denny Blaze, The Whitest White Boy Rapper Ever

All Denny “Blazin’ Hazen” Blaze wanted to be was a successful rapper — and he made this stellar video, featuring his atonal voice, off-beat rapping, killer mullet and love of neon tracksuits — in order to try and get a record deal. Stick around for the post-video pitch to MTV, where he explains with a slight sociopathic glint, “I’m just a middle class guy who’s trying to express myself through my rap music.” [YouTube] Keep reading »

This week we have some old favorites: Neil Young and Eric Clapton. Also, Ben Folds collabs with an Academy Award-winning screenwriter for some smart pop perfection. Plus, there’s new tuneage by Deerhunter and Seal. But one record is going to blow the lid off this fall—Mark Ronson and The Business Int’l are serving up fresh, hot jams! So, get those headphones on, girl, ’cause we’re going to get into the groove after the jump! Keep reading »

Tween Bro And Sis Show The Foo Fighters How It’s Done

Irish brother and sister Dylan and Lauren McBride really like the Foo Fighters track “Everlong.” They also happen to be gifted musicians — and in this clip from 2010′s Oxjam Electric Picnic, the pair manage to win over a crowd of opinionated adult music fans with their cover of the hit song. This is so good it makes us want to (finally) learn how to play acoustic guitar. [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Florence + The Machine Get “Addicted To Love”

Florence + the Machine‘s cover of “Addicted to Love” has been a regular on, oh, pretty much every mix CD I’ve made in the past six months. Something about Florence Welch’s voice just turns this classic ’80s track inside out. And then today, PopWrap posted a photo showing Florence in front of the iconic Robert Palmer girls. It’s not just a Photoshop job—the women are still in black with red lips and white guitars, but their styling has been updated for 2010, complete with Snooki poufs and strapless dresses. Which leads me to think: maybe a video is in the works for the Florence version? I am crossing my fingers that this is the case. After the jump, the original “Addicted to Love” video. Just because.
