First Listen: Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me”

Oh, hell, girl. Britney Spears is back with a pretty sweet new single called “Hold It Against Me.” It’s a super grimy club jam (please note: these types of descriptions are why I was a failure as a music journalist) and basically I am having a dance party in my living room right now. So, in other words: it’s a success. Gimme more, Brit! Listen to the full track after the jump! Keep reading »

Coca-Cola’s Crammer Keeper App Makes Studying As Simple As Singing A Tune

Students these days have it so easy. Laptops and tablets have virtually eliminated the need for notebooks and textbooks. The internet has made sitting in a classroom unnecessary. And now Coca-Cola has created the Crammer Keeper app that makes retaining course material easy. Ever noticed how you can remember the lyrics to the #1 song or an oldies hit, but have a difficult time remembering your school or work notes? Well the new Crammer Keeper is a free app that lets you turn your notes into a catchy tune, so you can remember them in a fun way. All you have to do is input your notes, select your preferred voice, choose a music genre (hip hop, rock, pop, etc.), and then download the song. You can even share it with friends, classmates, or colleagues. I’m not in school, but I’m thinking the Crammer Keeper will help me remember names and blogs of colleagues, instead of only remembering their Twitter handles. Keep reading »

Album Drop: This Week’s New Releases From M.I.A. To Generationals

It’s new tunes Tuesday! Yay! And even though this week is light on the new music, it’s more like lite. Seriously, this week, the fat has been cut and the three releases I bring you are tasty! First off, M.I.A. has just released a mix tape called Vickileekx in support of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s recent trouble with the law. You can download it for free! Despite which side of the debate you’re on, free M.I.A tracks are something we can all support. Yes? No? Well, anyway, Brooklyn-based bombshell Class Actress and New Orleans’ hot dude duo Generationals also both drop new albums today. So, let’s get into the groove, after the jump! Keep reading »

Willow Smith Might Cover “Parents Just Don’t Understand”

I made an amazing discovery the other day regarding Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s kids. Willow = Will. Jaden = Jada. Cute! (What, you already figured that out? Aren’t you smart!) Well, apparently Willow does really take after her papa, because she is considering covering his classic song, “Parents Just Don’t Understand.” She says, “There’s a possibility that I will [cover it]. It’s a really great song.” I, for one, hope she does it. I like the meta-ness of it all. [EW] Keep reading »

Just Leaked: Justin Timberlake’s “Take You Down”

Justin Timberlake, who fancies himself an actor now, has recorded a new track and it’s leaked onto the internet. Above, a possibly unfinished “Take You Down.” Could that be a reference to his desire to win an Oscar this year for his role in “The Social Network”? (Fat chance of that happening.) Even though I am a diehard JT fan, I have to say if this is the best he can do after a few years away from the studio, then, yeah, I agree with him that he’s “not ready to record a new album.” Weak sauce. Your acting dreams have made you soft, Justin. [MTV] Keep reading »

Twilight Zone Music News: Kanye Stars In Kim Kardashian’s Video, Kate Moss Records An Album

Today’s music news seems to be all sorts of backwards. First off, we told you in November that Kim Kardashian was recording an album with The-Dream. And now we hear that she is making a video directed by Hype Williams. The mega famous video director spent hours on a closed set with Kim, and her bud Kanye West showed up to co-star. Seem like that should be the other way around, no? [TMZ]

Also surprising, Kate Moss is making an album too! Keep reading »
