The Frisky staff got into a discussion the other day about what kind of music gets us in the mood — we’ll share our list with you a little later — and it prompted me to ask them all the question: What music was playing when you lost your V-card? Wow, I didn’t realize I’d be opening such a can of worms! Check out our (pretty funny) answers after the jump and give us yours in the comments. And sure, you can try to guess which staffer said what, but our lips are remaining sealed! Keep reading »

This week has got some outta-this-world electro clank that’ll have you wanting to go bionic, thanks to Yeasayer, Phantogram, and Massive Attack. Then, on the flip side, we got some lady ballads bustin’ out as the Watson Twins start two-timing Jenny Lewis and Sade makes a comeback. So, let’s get into the groove after the jump. Keep reading »

I have to say, one of my fondest memories of my last relationship is when the he would pick out music for us. We would start out just listening to it, and then, well….my favorites were Frank Sinatra, his Classical playlist, and then other random folk artists…I love feeling classy, and who doesn’t feel like a 40s starlet while they are making out to “The way you look tonight” or “Fly me to the moon”??!!
Thank you for all your comments! Keep reading »
At last night’s Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam in South Beach, Rihanna took to the stage and sang a medley of “Madhouse,” “Wait Your Turn,” “Live Your Life,” and “Disturbia.” She did it all in a one-armed, one-legged, futuristic black-and-white jumpsuit while singing into a microphone attached to a life-size sword. Probably, that weapon would come in handy if Chris Brown tried to bum-rush stage. She could decapitate him without missing a beat. Keep reading »
Who wore these Zeus-inspired lightning bolt high heels?
1) Lady Gaga. Duh.
2) Beyonce. She’s a freak.
3) Rihanna. That’s my fashion icon!
Find out the answer after the jump. Keep reading »
Oh, that Simon Cowell. Just when Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus and company were feeling all good about themselves for remaking “We Are The World” to raise money for Haiti, Simon releases his celebrity all-star version of “Everybody Hurts.” Jon Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, and many others pitched in to rerecord the REM track. Give it a listen, above. Feel free to play “name that voice” in the comments section. Keep reading »
Kari Ann Peniche — the other naked chick from the Eric Dane/Rebecca Gayheart naked threesome video — is trying to reclaim her 15 minutes … and she’s doing it at Tiger Woods’ expense. Peniche just released a new song called “U and Me and Tiger Makes 3″ — a song about getting some triple action with the golf star — and while her vocal skills are lacking, at least she proves she still has good hygiene. Listen!

It’s new release Tuesday, folks, and that can mean only one thing: It’s time to take the fresh tunes for a spin. I know we were all counting on a groundhog today (six more weeks of winter, wah!), but this week has another beacon of hope, nay, ridonkulous awesomeness. Last year, I was addicted to Animal Collective’s mind-blowingly special gem, Merriweather Post Pavillion. And about a year later, another album in the same sonically distorted vein has come to be—Toro y Moi’s Causers Of This. Does this mean there’s a new psychedelic electro-noise experiment genre?! Dang, music is so exciting sometimes. After that act, it was hard for Lil Wayne, Soft Pack, and Nick Jonas to follow, but alas, they’re all brand shiny new this week and they deserve a chance to dance, romance, and entrance. So, let’s get into the groove, after the jump! Keep reading »
This week is like the deli sandwich of new release Tuesdays, ’cause it’s jam-packed with meaty, juicy morsels of music! We got a new smokin’ Hot Chip record startin’ the dance party. The Magnetic Fields are here to polarize your heart. Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck made some beautiful music together, and we hope that’s a double entendre — that would be a rad kid. Beach House made the perfect nap-time music for adults. And Los Campesinos think romance can bite it. So, get ready to turn up the volume on those headphones ’cause, after the jump, we’re gonna take the latest tunes for a spin. Keep reading »
Rihanna is releasing a cover of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” and is donating all the proceeds to the relief efforts for Haiti. Although she was pretty much messing with perfection, she’s managed to record a decent version that stays true to the original and is also modern. Now that I’ve heard Rihanna’s actual singing voice, I can’t understand why she’s so fond of Auto-Tuning her recordings. Rihanna’s “Redemption Song” can be downloaded for $1.29 on iTunes.
