Ke$ha Has Glitter Shooting Out Of Every Orifice

“If you come and see a show of mine, there is no shortage of glitter. By the end, everyone from the back of the auditorium to the very front is covered and potentially choking on glitter. I am shooting glitter from glitter guns and out of every orifice in my body. It’s really a big part of what I do. It’s my goal to cover the planet in glitter and take the f**k over. I can’t do that if I don’t have a s**t-ton of glitter … I’ve found glitter in places that will not be named in this interview.”

– Pop star Ke$ha estimates she spends a few thousand dollars every month on glitter. Giving her a pap smear must be like going to a rave. I’m sure her gynecologist loves it. [Vanity Fair] Keep reading »

The Public Battle Over Mick Jagger’s Penis Size Rages On

When Keith Richards’ book, Life, came out last year, everyone zeroed in on two short sentences: “Marianne Faithfull had no fun with [Mick Jagger's] tiny todger. I know he’s got an enormous pair of balls—but it doesn’t quite fill the gap.” Mick was apparently very mad about the slight. Ever since, the women he’s slept with have been stepping forward to refute the statement. Jerry Hall, Mick’s ex-wife, was of course one of the loudest voices. “Mick is very well endowed. I should know—I was with him for 23 years,” she said. “Keith is just jealous.”

Now, finally, Marianne Faithfull has something to say on the issue. Keep reading »

Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” Finally Drops

The first single and title track off Lady Gaga’s forthcoming album Born This Way has finally arrived! As expected, the song is a synth-heavy and highly danceable celebration of being yourself. Writes Andy at Popdust:
The lyrics spill out a riff on the “It gets better” story pop music titans have been trying to tell since last fall with a more unrepentantly anthemic take on what it is to be different: “I was born this way, hey!” is destined for millions of Facebook status updates and Twitter bon mots, but first and foremost, this is a song all of the many groups in Gaga’s monstrous coalition can dance to.

What do you think of “Born This Way”? Are you psyched for the album’s release in March? [Popdust] Keep reading »

Behold! The Strokes First Single In 5 Years

I heart The Strokes, so I’m pretty excited that they have given us a little taste of their new album, Angles, which drops in March. After the jump, the band’s first single in five years, “Under the Cover of Darkness.” I am kind of loving it, especially once the other guys jump in on backup vocals to help out Julian Casablancas. I say: yes! [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Cut Copy’s New Album Is Infinitely Pastable

Cut Copy, the synthpop outfit that has ruled my stereo ever since I first heard “Lights and Music,” are from Australia. So I absolutely adore that on their new album, Zonoscope, they take Men at Work’s classic Aussie ode, “Down Under,” and turn it inside out. This band knows how to craft a song that makes you want to move uncontrollably on a sweaty dancefloor, but that has way more soul and emotional content than, say, the Black Eyed Peas “I Got A Feeling.” Make sure to get a copy of Zonoscope. You will thank me.
