Weekend Shut-In Worksheet: Watch "Nymphomaniac I," Read The Flamethrowers & Listen To Pharrell Williams' GIRL

Activities are wonderful, but sometimes, it’s fine to want to shut the world out for a couple of days, and make some serious time for you. Don’t be afraid of FOMO, either. There will always be another party, another pub crawl, another picnic. The time you’ll spend indulging in the things you want to do, alone, are well worth it. Here’s a handy list of awesome things to do this weekend!

This Bluegrass Cover Of “Walk Like An Egyptian” Is Proof Dreams Do Come True

Bluegrass Version Of Walk Like An Egyptian
The Bangles + Banjos = Life Dream Status!
7 Reasons To Love Country
Come on, at least give it a chance! Read More »

If I asked you, “What is something that instantly makes you happy, no matter how terrible you’re feeling?”, what would you say? A baby’s smile? Ryan Gosling’s torso? I would say catchy ’80s songs and banjos. Bluegrass band The Cleverlys has combined these two happy-making things into one amazing cover of The Bangles’ “Walk Like An Egyptian,” which I have had on repeat all morning. Way better than a baby’s smile, if you ask me. [YouTube]

I’m, Like, Totally Buggin’ Over Iggy Azelea’s Homage To “Clueless”

I'm, Like, Totally Buggin' Over Iggy Azelea's Ode To "Clueless"
Classic!

Australian rapper/sing Iggy Azalea is apparently having a bit of a love affair with American pop culture from the ’90s. In addition to her tribute to the incredible glamour of the movie “Showgirls,” Iggy and her pal Charli XCX have now put out this homage to Amy Heckerling’s “Clueless.” It is, as Cher would say, CLASSIC.

Miley Cyrus Does Country Cover Of “Hey Ya” (And It’s Shockingly Good)

Miley Cyrus Does Country Cover Of "Hey Ya" (And It's Shockingly Good)
Who Woulda Thunk?

You’re right to assume that Miley Cyrus doing a country cover of Outkast’s “Hey Ya” is a terrible idea. You’re right to make that assumption because it should be terrible. And yet, against all the laws of nature and pop music, it’s not. Miley performed the song at a recent stop on her Bangerz tour and I would not be surprised if she ends up recording it (if she gets permission from Andre 3000 and Big Boi, that is). I like this cover because it mixes what I think are two very genuine versions of Miley — the girl who grew up on country music, and the young adult who’s discovered a love of hip-hop.

This Sexy Mashup Of Justin Timberlake And Marvin Gaye Is Making Me Fall Apart

Can't. Handle.

Some genius discovered that Justin Timberlake’s vocals from “Suit & Tie” paired with the instrumentals of “Let’s Get It On” are a match made in heaven, and about as sexy as it gets. Cliches be damned, “Let’s Get It On” is one of the best (and um, most honest) love songs out there. Add J.T. and his dance moves into the mix, and it’s simply too perfect to handle. Is it warm in here? [22 Words]

Kanye West Remixes Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love”

Kanye West Remixes Beyonce's "Drunk In Love"

I love each and every song on Beyonce’s recent self-titled album, but I have a special soft spot for “Drunk In Love,” her collab with husband Jay Z. I mean, it’s sexy, fun to dance to and hilarious. Surfboart? “Graining on that wood”? “Her breasteses are my breakfastes”? While the song is perfect as is, that didn’t stop Kanye West from trying to make it better by remixing the song with some of his own lyrical flourishes. Take a listen after the jump and let me know what you think in the comments! Keep reading »

Miley Cyrus Twerks With Madonna, Sings Countrified Versions Of Her Songs On “Unplugged”

Miley Cyrus Twerks With Madonna, Sings Countrified Versions Of Her Songs On "Unplugged"
It's Miley & Madonna!

I have lots of problems with Miley Cyrus, namely her at-times idiotic behavior, but I find her music fun and enjoy her voice, especially when it’s been stripped down. I loved her pre-Bangerz, “Backyard Sessions” phase, when she covered songs like “Jolene,” her voice rich and clear as a bell. Last night, “Unplugged: Miley Cyrus” aired on MTV and featured a somewhat in-between version of Miley — both the country girl and the hip-hop-loving goofball. Clad in a gingham onesie, with a plush horse mascot by her side, Miley sang countrified versions of songs like “Do My Thang,” “Wrecking Ball,” and “Rooting For My Baby.” She was also joined on stage by none other than Madonna, and the two duetted on a mashup of Madge’s “Don’t Tell Me” and Miley’s “We Can’t Stop.” Obviously, there was still some twerking involved. If you can put aside their collective asshole-ish-ness, it’s actually pretty fun. Watch their duet above and a few other clips after the jump! [MTV] Keep reading »

Listen Up: Lea Michele Releases Catchy New Song, “What Is Love?”

listen-lea-michele-what-is-love
Listen To Lea's New Song!

I know a ton of people who find Lea Michele annoying, and, okay, I kind of get it. But, you have to admit: the girl can SING. And to tease her debut solo album, Louder, which comes out on March 4, the “Glee” star is revealing a new track every Tuesday for our listening pleasure.

But this week, Tuesday came early. Last night, Lea revealed “What Is Love?” a few days prematurely, which joins “Louder,” “Battlefield,” and her first single, “Cannonball.” I kind of love it. I have a feeling I’ll be buying this album.
