Where Are We Living?: Amelia
One of the things I appreciate most about my small apartment is that it's all livable space. Before I moved in, I lived in an apartment with my ex that was a bit bigger, square footage wise, and had multiple rooms, but tons of space was wasted on pesky hallways. My bachelorette pad is smaller, but every single square foot is useable. That can be hard to come by in New York, where many of the apartments are bizarrely sized.
Anyway, this is one angle of my living room. Decorating was a labor of love. It's the first time I've ever lived alone, so I was able to do just the way I liked. Modern with dose of girly is totally my thing. Most of my furniture came from Ikea -- the TV stand/shelves -- or West Elm (the coffee table, rug, floor pillows, and couch), and was assembled by me, all by my lonesome. Give me an Allen wrench and a glass of wine and I am good to go!
You can't tell in this photo, but my bedroom nook is directly behind the couch, so in order to see the TV from my bed -- very important! -- I needed to get a low-backed couch that wouldn't disrupt my view. I also scored this bad boy on sale. The bad news is that Lucca seriously sheds and her hair is super visible against the color of the couch. I do a lot of vacuuming. It's a great workout. My coffee table has a bunch of scratches and water stains, so I'm noodling with the idea of removing the paint and trying to fix it up on own.Related to: amelia
