Slouching Toward Bethlehem by Joan Didion. The other day my friend Emily posted something on packing lists on the Smithsonian's blog Threaded. She included an excerpt from Joan Didion's book The White Album which made me want to read it. I've never read any Didion, so I picked up a copy of that and Slouching Toward Bethlehem.
Lonely Planet Guide To Morocco. My boyfriend and I just booked (very expensive) tickets to Morocco! I am super stoked, and a using this Lonely Planet guide to figure out our itinerary.
Lula Magazine and Love Magazine. I don't do it super often, but I love splurging on super expensive and glossy fashion mags. These two are a couple of the best.
Ingrid Bergman, My Story by Ingrid Bergman and Alan Burgess. I'm fond of buying books at thrift shops, because you can find some total oddities. I love reading memoirs and biographies. I'm not a huge Ingrid Bergman fan or anything, but she lived a pretty compelling and scandalous life. Sadly, this book whitewashes a lot of the more controversial things she did -- I"m guessing there was an intense review process between her and Burgess. But it's still fascinating stuff to learn about old Hollywood.
