Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub
Glaswegian pop band teenage Fanclub totally peaked in 1991 with "The Concept," the song which famously intoned that "she don't do drugs but she's on the pill." The album that it's from, Bandwagonesque, beat out Nirvana's Nevermind to top Spin magazine's Best Record of The Year. In 2001, Norman Blake stepped down from the position of Rector of the University of Glasgow so that his friend Stuart Murdoch of the band Belle and Sebastian could take the position. In 2009, he moved to Canada to live with his wife, who is originally from there.
