Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum
Okay, so "Somebody to Shove" is a really good song! Dave and Soul Asylum topped the charts in 1992 with "Runaway Train" and Dave inexplicably dated Winona Ryder. By 1999, Soul Asylum had burned out, and Pirner went on to release a solo album in 2002. In 2006, he recorded vocals with The Hold Steady, and more recently, he claims he and the band are recording a new record. Weirdly, Soul Asylum's "band files" are available for archival research at the Minnesota Historical Society.
