In 2004, Jim McGreevey announced that he was stepping down from his post as the governor of New Jersey—and that he’d been cheating on his wife Dina with a dude named Golan Cipel. Four years earlier, McGreevey had appointed Cipel New Jersey’s homeland security adviser, and local newspapers made a stink about how he wasn’t qualified, but was a “travel companion” of the gov’s. But it wasn’t until Cipel threatened to sue for sexual harassment that McGreevey decided to come clean.
