Must-See Flick: "Pitch Perfect" (Universal)
Funny Beginnings: Cannon got her start at such highly esteemed comedic training grounds as The Second City and ImprovOlympic. While writing and performing around Chicago, she met Tina Fey, a fellow Second City alumna, and the two became fast friends. Then, when the former Weekend Update co-host decided to hoof it from "SNL" and start "30 Rock," she was looking for funny peeps to join the writing staff and turned to Cannon, who happily accepted—and the rest is TGS history.
Why She’s A Hoot: In addition to penning some of "30 Rock"’s most beloved episodes, Cannon is receiving rave reviews for her big-screen debut, the a cappella comedy "Pitch Perfect," starring Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson. Currently an executive producer and writer on "New Girl," Cannon also recently sold a workplace comedy to 20th Century Fox as part of her first development deal. The show is billed as a Mary Tyler Moore-style sitcom that takes place in a Fox NFL Sunday-type office and is loosely based on Cannon’s sorta-recent divorce to funnyman Jason Sudeikis.
