Must-See Flick: "For A Good Time, Call…" (Focus Features)
Funny Beginnings: When Miller graduated from film school at Florida State University, she first set out to be an actress. However, when she moved to L.A., the only thing she landed was the role of Seth Rogen’s IRL girlfriend. (The two are now married.) Auditions became few and far between, so she decided to take casting into her own hands and write "For A Good Time, Call..." with her former roommate (and former phone-sex operator) Katie Anne Naylon.
Why She’s A Hoot: Miller co-wrote, co-produced and co-stars in "For A Good Time, Call…," which is loosely based on her own experience with Naylon, who ran an über-popular sex line during college. By focusing on sexual taboos—and doing it with humor and heart—Miller is helping to prove men don’t have the R-rated market cornered, especially when it comes to raunchy comedies. Plus, the success of "Good Time" has definitely filled up Miller’s acting dance card: Next is "Growing Up (And Other Lies)," the story of four friends who vow to walk the length of Manhattan before any of them move out of the city, then "Someone Marry Barry," a romantic comedy that proves even socially inappropriate people deserve love.
