Muse and Vogue editor Anna Piaggi passed away earlier this week at 81, a style innovator and rebel to the last. Piaggi's wild style put her in the ranks with other non-traditional fashion icons, like Zandra Rhoades, Isabella Blow and Anna Dello Russo. Her aesthetic was rooted in exaggerated forms and extensive layering, paired with her signature accessory -- the top hat.
In 2006, Piaggi's genius was recognized with an exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum, and she counted Karl Lagerfeld and Vivienne Westwood among her close friends.
Following, we've selected several of our favorite, most outrageous Piaggi looks.
