Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross

Pope Joan is a fictional account of a woman who became pope way back in the Ninth Century after having concealed her sex for many years.  There are many historians who believe there was an actual Pope Joan in history, although the Church denies the story.  Great exploration of the doors that hiding her womanhood opened but also the sacrifices that came with the benefits. -- Cheryl
