There is absolutely nothing funny about the incident at UC Davis late last week, in which police officers — specifically Officer John Pike — pepper-sprayed peaceful protesters at close range. But there is something quite funny about the internet meme which features Pike pepper-spraying people in famous paintings and photographs. Especially since they are as big a threat to him as the students he doused in chemical gas.
