The first time I took an Instagram self-portrait, it was legitimately an accident. I was on a plane to Hawaii and trying to take a picture of the wing of the plane against the sky because I am really creative and original like that, and I didn't realize my phone was set on the reverse camera setting. I looked at the closely cropped picture of my face, clicked on the "Amaro" filter just for kicks, and was stunned to see the results: my skin was suddenly flawless, my eyes became deep pools of emerald green, and my self-esteem soared. Want to know why everyone is obsessed with taking pictures of themselves on Instagram? Because Instagram makes you look goooood.
