Winona Ryder — Queen of the '90s indie flick — was the decade's first celebrity scandal casualty when she was arrested for shoplifting on December 12, 2001. She was accused of stuffing $5,500 worth of designer duds into her purse at a Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills. Ryder was sentenced to "three years' probation, 480 hours of community service, $3,700 in fines, and $6,355 in restitution to the Saks Fifth Avenue store – and was ordered to attend psychological and drug counseling." After serving all of her community service hours, Ryder's felonies were reduced to misdemeanors.
